I saw $107.91 for annual with 25% discount but then realised this is for Premium and not HiFi.

I have been trying Deezer for a couple of months on a free trial and have found it excellent so far.

I previously was a Deezer subscriber - I liked the range and the sound quality.  What drove me away was a little more trivial, though.  Every time I sat down to listen, the authentication to log in to the app was much more cumbersome than tidal/spotify/soundcloud.  Maybe I was doing something wrong, but five minutes later I would commonly still be proving I wasn't a robot and clicking pictures of buses and streetlights.  The time between choosing to put some music on and when I actually getting it playing matters to me, though YMMV.

Over the last few years I have at various times subscribed to Spotify, deezer premium and deezer hifi, tidal hifi and qobuz. Since qobuz started in Australia a few months ago it has become my preferred streaming service so I now have yearly subscription to qobuz and deezer premium so French all the way. I have enjoyed deezer and continue  to subscribe because I can access a lot of Japanese rock bands and kpop that qobuz does not have and the difference between streaming at 382 and hires is not a great as you are lead to believe.

Am I missing something here because the only plans I currently see at

https://www.deezer.com/en/offers

are Deezer Premium and Deezer Family which seem much different + cheaper than the plans others are listing in this thread. No distinct Hifi plan but it High Fidelity included with Premium???

Deezer offer premium for $11.99 per month streaming at 320 and deezer hifi for $17.99 per month although I just got a notification that their prices have gone up. I personally use deezer premium yearly subscription which I think works out at about $10 per month.  I would have subscribed to deezer hifi only rather than deezer and qobuz but one of my daps will stream only tidal or qobuz.

Just checked my yearly subscription price for deezer premium and it is $107.91 per year although I expect it will go up when renewal time comes around. Very cheap and i am happy with the sound quality for the music that I use deezer for i.e. Japanese rock and kpop.

Looks like they've dropped hifi into premium.

Must be the Apple competition. Definitely my favourite subscription and now it's even cheaper

It’s very confusing. I’ve had deezer premium for a few years and it was always streamed at 320. I looked on their website and it appears that their hifi option has disappeared. In reply to your comment that maybe hifi has now been dropped into premium I’m not sure. I still have a yearly subscription to deezer premium and I just played a few tracks. I have no way of knowing if it is at CD quality other than when I look into my audio settings the highest option that I have for streaming audio quality is HQ which is high quality which is 320. If hifi was now in premium I would think that I would be able to select the option HF or high fidelity which is their CD quality 1440. So don’t think that premium streams at CD quality unless because I’m on a yearly subscription I have to wait until I renew before HF comes into play. Confusing.

^^^This. I paid for a subscription to Deezer Hifi on several occasions  to only ever get the premium bit rate. Cancelled and refunded on each occasion.

Deezer need to sort this out before the exodus to Apple. Perhaps it’s already too late.

Last year I did upgrade to hifi and I found it quite good but eventually downgraded to premium once I subscribed to qobuz. For what supposed to be all the same streaming quality qobuz, deezer and tidal all sound a bit different, not sure why. I really like deezer UI less so for qobuz

Oh I'm on premium sub and have the flac high fidelity option on app/Web in Australia

I can see how it's confusing with what you're experiencing. I have 3 options in my drop down (128/320/flac)

Posted

Interesting, I will take some time today to investigate my app but my settings/audio shows basic, standard, high quality. Might need to shoot an email off to deezer. As I said earlier it maybe because I’m on a yearly subscription.

Posted

The fact that the option is listed, doesn’t mean you will get FLAC high quality. As mentioned above I subscribed 3 times to Hifi and only got 320 KB/s.

I suggest emailing them first before changing your subscription

Fair enough, in the interests of checking, I just clicked "flow" to get a mix of random tracks.

So far all of them (15/15 tests) have been FLAC, as confirmed by the 25MB+ files it's grabbing in the browser console. That's not confirming they're real flac and all that usual argument, but as a "am I getting 320 or lossless", I'm definitely getting lossless.

My options in browser are:

Standard (128)

Better (320)

High Fidelity (lossless)

Definitely check with Deezer support, as I've never had an issue with lossless. Maybe I can test something out for you or a track you are only getting 320 on? My music selection might just be all popular stuff

Posted

Emailed deezer and the reply was that because I am on a yearly subscription any changes to my premium account will only take effect when my renewal period comes up which is another 6 months away. Seems a strange way to treat loyal customers who are confident enough to subscribe for a year.

That's absolutely ridiculous, especially with Spotify launching imminently, this would have been their chance to control the narrative a little.

I'm hoping for you and everyone else that they quickly 180 on that decision and retrospectively apply it to everyone.

Well I hope so!  I had a monthly hifi subscriptio at $17.99 pm

last month I got an email from them saying:

however today my subscription seemed to be cancelled.  Suddenly I started getting advertisements which I have never had before and my playlists would only play a short sample of each song.  So it seems I now have "Deezer Free".

I emailed them and they said:

I can see that your renewal was aborted technically, sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you. All you need to do now is resubscribe - www.deezer.com/offers :).

Please get back in touch if you need any further assistance.

The problem is when I go to that link there is only premium or family - not hifi.

That will be fine if premium now has lossless - I have emailed them back to confirm.  In the mean time I have looked around and see offers for 3 months free on Qobuz so I can always try that if Deezer doesn't work out - but it has been great up to now ever since I moved over from Tidal.

just an update on this.

I have not heard back from Deezer but I notice overnight I was charged $16.99 for the coming month as "Deezer Trio".

It sounds like it is midway between Premium and Family which have 1 and 6 accounts respectively.

In the Deezer app I have a choice of

Standard 128 kb/s

Better 320kb/s

High Fidelity Lossless Quality

I suspect this is no different to Premium but it would be good if they were transparent and clearly said their former HiFi level was now rolled into Premium.

I have heard back now and they confirm that lossless (that you used to pay extra for in the Hifi subscription) is now included in Premium.

HIFI is now included in all subscriptions so you'll have lossless with your subscription

I've  had deezer  hifi for over a year and I am very pleased with the sound. My son has Spotify  and said when  comparing the two  he liked deezer  better

I've been on Deezer Family for several years now and have been very happy with the service on the whole.  Yes, Family throws in Hi Fi FLAC @ 1411kbps.  It's been that way since I can remember.  Accounts can be linked or independent.  By linked, that is more than one device streaming at the same time on the same account, and independent is for a family member or friend with a different email address and password.

Gripes:  The Associated Music Cast (Yamaha) App and the Google TV App seem to list albums only in the order you added them to your library.  That is a real PITA.  I have not found a different way to sort or filter.  By Artist , or By Album title would make sense.

Lot's of choice and of course have quality set to Hi Fi at all times..  Importantly, save everything to your Phone with expandable storage... sorry Apple and Google... not buying you for FLAC anywhere anytime is a no brainer.  The quality of the files is good enough for my equipment and 55 year old ears.

Cheers!

Ive subscribed to deezer for several years and have always been very pleased with quality and UI. I switched from Spotify when Spotify stopped supporting squeezebox touch and absolutely no regrets. I pay yearly subscription which is the cheapest of any streaming platform that streams cd quality and they have many artists that appeal to me that no other streaming platform has. I still subscribe to qobuz as well because a few daps that I have don’t stream deezer eg cayin r3 pro which user hiby iu. Anything that runs android will run deezer and squeezebox touch runs it no problem.

Something to be mindful of with Deezer is the limit on the number of tracks you can add to you library. I think it’s 2500 tracks.

I used Deezer for about 2 months and then hit the limit. I couldn’t add something to my library unless I deleted something. I’m not using Deezer anymore.
