08Boss302 Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I got an email about this too, will be interesting to see how they go with this feature
Jakeyb77_Redux Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Just got an email to say the monthly fee has gone down to $19.99 ($5) Must be a lot of people jumping ship 1

I hope it isn’t a race to the bottom though - which I think it may be.

Quobuz is strongly focussed on the classical music genre, and the recent purchase by Apple Music of the classical music streaming service PrimePhonic may have contributed to the price drop.
08Boss302 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 I got the same email, Ibe had se Qobuz USA for well over 18months , now down to $119 per year for premier studio.
Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted September 1, 2021 Volunteer Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) I paid for a year in May, when Qobuz arrived. Just got an email saying it will be renewed next May at 199.90. Equates to $16.67 per month Edited September 1, 2021 by sir sanders zingmore 1
smallnstatistics Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I got two emails - one about the general price reduction, the second similar, but noting "Don't want to wait? You can take out a 12-month Studio Premier subscription today at the new price. A prorated discount on your current subscription will be applied to your cart." In addition, the "Pricing FAQ" on the Qobuz site notes "Please note that in some cases you can benefit from the new price earlier by subscribing to the new annual formula reduced by a prorata linked to your current subscription. You will be notified by e-mail as soon as the prorata becomes applicable in the basket." I presume the second email I received is what the FAQ refers to. However, when I go to My Account on the Qobuz website the only options available are to "change" my plan, not sign up for a new 12-month plan of the same type at the reduced rate. Has anyone: 1) received this second email?; and 2) managed to sign up for 12 more months at the reduced rate?
eso Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I read about taking the earlier offer last night. This morning I couldn’t find it. Thought I’d lost my mind. Still can’t find it now though
smallnstatistics Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 (edited) Ok, I figured it out. I had to be logged out of the Qobuz account website prior to clicking the link in the email offering to renew my subscription at the discounted rate with a pro-rated refund of my old subscription. After clicking the link, I then logged into my account and was immediately offered the option to pay without having to select any options. I've had my Qobuz subscription since April. The first month was free, so I paid $229.99 in May. I had used ~115 days of my annual subscription, with ~250 days remaining. Qobuz correctly pro-rated ~$160 back to me for those 250 days. The new plan is $199.90 per year so Qobuz then charged me ~$40 for the additional three and a quarter months added to my subscription. So, depending how you view it, I've saved a couple of dollars a month, or gained almost four months for around $11/month. For those who haven't received the email offering this - check it's not hidden in an email thread. The two emails from Qobuz arrived within a few hours for me, and my email account auto-grouped them into a single thread so the one with the discount offer was hidden. At a quick glance, the two emails look almost identical, so it's easy to think you've received the same email twice if you don't read the fourth paragraph. Jakeyb77_Redux Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 (edited) Hmmm after all the hype I thought I’d try Apple Music lossless as I use a Mac mini M1 as my server. Played a few tracks back to back. Gotta say Qobuz with Audirvāna absolutely blew the Apple Music away. No contest. And I was hoping for a different outcome so no bias in the test at all. hammerharry Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Actually I just noticed that my latest account devit was for $19.99
Gambit 1870 Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Anybody else noticed an increase in gaps mid song of late? It was really prevalent for me yesterday afternoon. I thought it may have been notifications on the device I was streaming from (oppo phone with no sim) so I disabled all notifications and then it happened when I was using my phone. This isn't an issue when I'm streaming Spotify from either device.
08Boss302 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Strange thing just happened, hopefully just a UI update or something but the playlists I created have just vanished - completely gone. Was listening to it last night, added a few songs this morning, walked away for 30min came back and the whole 400 odd songs - gone. My fav artists and albums etc are all still there. Anyone else had this happen this morning?

Anyone else had this happen this morning? What interface are you using? The Qobuz app (on what platform?)? Or an API for your player (Lumin, Sonos, Bluesound etc)? My Lumin app shows all playlists still (both Qobuz favourited playlists and the playlists I have created myself), as does the Qobuz app on both Win10 and my Android phone.
fjs Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 I've had no problems with qobuz to date. Streamed from my PC Windows 10, from Bluesound Node, streamed from squeezebox touch and streamed from chromcast audio, all good. I'm on their yearly subscription. I've been pretty happy with qobuz.

I noticed just this several days ago...sounded more like frank distortion sometimes, and at other times a fuzzy overlay of horrible machine-like noise. I blamed my internet and possible lower bandwidth during 'peak hours'. It hasn't returned so far. I’ve noticed some weird crunchy distortion sometimes too mostly in the treble with cymbals or guitar… I tried rewinding the track to see if it happened again (was worried my speakers or streamer were broken). I couldn’t hear it again after rewinding. Very odd… This was also with full High-Res tracks… I will give it a go with some locally stored tracks to see if it’s a streaming issue with Qobuz… 1
Jakeyb77_Redux Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Sounds like a bandwidth issue. Haven’t had any issue playing Qobuz here. What’s your download speed?

I don’t use a Bluesound anymore but when I did I had the same issues with Tidal. There is a couple of threads on it on here. Do you have a laptop you can swap out for the BS and see if the same thing happens? 1
Bass13 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Ive only got between, average 46Mbps to 56Mpbs, with the kids home, they are on their laptops, plus me on mine too, all laptops on WiFi. My streamer has no issue streaming Hi-res or whatever type of files, but it is hard wired. I also have Netflix going sometimes all at the same time, its hard wired, still have no streaming issue's with Qobuz, and my speeds are slow compared to many. 1

Since I changed the wifi connection on the Blusound Powernode to the 5ghz signal I haven’t really come across the noise/distortion again yet. Might be a coincidence?. Have put on some tracks with lots of treble (where the distortion tends to happen) and it seems okay. It’s just something I have never noticed in the past even when streaming multiple things at once while I have music going… 4 hours ago, Bass13 said: Ive only got between, average 46Mbps to 56Mpbs, with the kids home, they are on their laptops, plus me on mine too, all laptops on WiFi. We only recently upgraded our connection to 270mbps from 50mbps. Perhaps the hardwire connection is less problematic with these sort of issues.. hmm 1

I dream of such dizzy speeds. Most household audio and video streaming endpoints are hard-wired (multiple switches and in-wall Cat6 to backhaul to the core switch in my office which is patched to the router). I rarely get issues even though Speedtest.net output shows my max download at about 23.5Mbps. Some days it just about scrapes 12Mbps and that's still enough for 192/24 streaming. fjs Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Interesting that Chris has noticed distortion in the higher frequencies. I have another post in the forum where I’m looking for a solution to a sudden increase in distortion at high frequencies and increased sibilance. I initially suspected the streaming service and then the bluesound but I have illuminated both of these causes so still looking. I didn’t know that I could select the wifi frequency band on the bluesound, how do you do it.

So far with the 5GHz wifi connection the distortion seems to have gone away or greatly reduced so that I’m not really noticing it. It could be a coincidence.. but I will keep an ear out for it. To change the WiFi connection I had to use the blusound desktop app. Go to ‘Settings’ -> ‘WiFi’ and then select the 5GHz version of your connection…. I just noticed that my Blusound has reverted to the 2.4ghz… I’m not sure if there is a way to make it forget previously entered wifi settings.. Edit 2: Once you update the wifi settings and it takes you to the next screen that says ‘congratulations you have set up your wifi’ - leave it on that screen for 30 seconds or so… if you exit too quickly it doesn’t seem to save the connection settings Edit: Wifi Settings are also available in the phone App they just take a long time to load in Edited September 10, 2021 by Chris.chapterten 1
