Are you worried about the area outside the letterbox burning in, ie that’s it’s always black ?

If so, I don’t believe it’s an issue as that part of the screen (to my understanding) is not energised.

Thanks for that.

Bl**dy obvious now that I think about it. 🤦

Now how should i try to Flip in to fund a C1?

Is it being repaired as a result of Burn In ?

I have an LG 65"GX OLED that I purchases in January this year. Its currently racked up 1130 hours and no burn in. I do make sure that the screen saver is on and there is a parameter you can set in the menus that help prevent burn in (it defaults to on).

My previous TV was a Hitachi 50" plasma and I had that for 12 years and never had any burn in issues.

Cheers

Thanks Dazz and Betty

While it's only been 5 months since the Loewe arrived it's run around 1800 hours, about 750 of those screening news programs with the bright footers.

So far there's no sign of burn in.

Like Dazz I've activated the screen saving and auto calibration systems, so I assume they're working.

I'll post an update if it changes.

So for now, we're well pleased with the investment in OLED.

Hi all

I said I’d give an update after six months running the OLED. (Loewe Bild V65)

It’s now been nine months running predominantly news programs with the headers and footers for an average of six hours per day and there’s absolutely no burn in. Well pleased 👍

Had a Panasonic 55” OLED TV for around 2 years no burn in or other problems.  Periodically get a notice panel maintenance needs carrying out, takes 80 minutes.  Don’t know what it entails maybe that’s why there haven’t been any burn in problems?

I was reading posts in a SONY A80K OLED owners thread at the AVS forum, some people had been taking photos of their screens asking if they looked OK, none of them were suffering Burn -in, just the usual things like a bit of banding and Dirty screen effect etc

The in built pixel shifting in most modern OLED keeps burn-in at bay, unless you are stupid enough to run a PC showing a task bar all the time [I've seen recent YouTube video's with people complaining about this - idiots ]

Yet some people at the forum were advising that they try doing a panel refresh, which in these cases is the totally wrong advise, it's OK to use if you DO HAVE signs of Burn-in, but not otherwise.

I looked at the manual for my A80K and it clearly warns NOT to use Panel Refresh more than once a year, as it lessens the life of the panel.
