StereoSimon Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Evening all, I’m looking for a little advice from your collective wisdom. I’m at the end of the process of moving from the Moon ACE to separates. The last stop is the streamer. I have a Chord 2qute going into a Linn Klimax Control and Twin Power. The CD player and TV are taking to optical and coaxial inputs on the 2qute leaving only the USB. I don’t stream that much just radio, podcasts and checking out an album before buying the CD or vinyl. So it doesn’t need to be anything flash and I don’t want to use very many hifi buying brownie points. So I’m looking for options. Anyone any ideas? Thanks very much.
zeffy Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 +1 for moOde on the pi... can get any Pi off gumtree and do it relatively cheap. Suggest you look for 3b and above, gives you the flexibility to use wifi if you dont have ethernet cable near your set up. 2
StereoSimon Posted May 4, 2021 Author Posted May 4, 2021 Thanks. Raspberry Pi. I don’t know anything about these. I’ll do some research.
zeffy Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Try this youtube link - shows a step by step to set up moOde on a Raspberry Pi 4. You don't need anything more than the Pi, power adapter and a USB cable.
avian Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Also if you are researching the Raspberry Pi's and think the thing looks like a horrible science project, or hacky DIY solution, there are a bunch of cases you can get from approx $10 to $30 that will finish it off and make it easier to handle both physically and visually. Heaps of options on ebay and such. 1
StereoSimon Posted May 6, 2021 Author Posted May 6, 2021 Thanks again guys. Looking into these I see why the recommendation. One thing I can’t quite understand is how you control it. Does it have a iOS/android app or do you need to use something else?

You simply use any computing device (laptop, phone, tablet) to view the web page (at the ip address of the reaspberry pi) that it generates and publishes. You can also run any mpd control app (I use M.A.L.P.) to access the mpd process that is at the heart of the moOde system, but start out with the above web page - much more featured and friendly.

warweary Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Another option is to use a smartphone or tablet or pc. One way would be 3.5 mm out of an iphone into dual rca cable. audioquest cable linky Other phones with the 3.5 mm will do that too, as would a pc motherboard or idevice. Another cheap option is a bluetooth receiver to stream from a smartphone/device. I've not used these so can't recommend a particular one but they're pretty cheap.
Noypi888 Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Hi, For the moOde, does it have to be Raspberry Pi 4? or it will work with Raspberry Pi 3B+ ? Thanks

a.dent Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 If the OP hasn’t already made a purchase, these https://www.allo.com/sparky/boss2-player.html are a great cheap streamer. You can buy preloaded with your choice of OS, including Moode or Diet Pi. I bought one for my shed system and it works flawlessly and sounds great.

Guest dr_carl Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Another option i found is an nvidia shield, usb output to 192 kHz. A few music streaming apps such as Spotify, Tidal and Deezer...no qobuz...approx $300.

The interface is via a web page. The moode forum can be helpful with problems like this.
