So great to have your wallet and phone in one.  Until it gets stolen or lost...

I lose my wallet, I can still call for help or report it as stolen immediately.  I lose my phone, I still have my ID etc.  🙂

I use this style wallet too Al, and have been for about four years. Does take a culling of cards to get it down to what you actually need though.

Just be warned after a little while the tension that keeps the cards in eases off, and I have had a case where with wallet in hand, I swiped at a bee, and cards ejected themselves all over the carpark.

Good feedback with some ownership over few years marc, will be careful not to swat bees :D but good reminder for me to register mine, lady said small etched code on it to register to secrid for warranty lifetime or worldwide cant remember... but also to see how cards hold up in there ...tight loose etc...

no kidding on the culling of the cards ... i think have whittled down to a good number... one thing still baffles me is the reward cards... have to look up the frequent flyer store cards if can be added to phone wallet. definitely woolies rewards can. no idea on flybuys... no idea on the airline ones yet (not that need them right now !

myki not able to be added to apple wallet yet either so will still be carrying that for a while i expect ...

this is  the problem with the medicare card ... not found solution yet... imagine me in hospital and no mobile reception... as happens in hospitals... yep was couple of weeks ago... actually left medicare card behind not sure why tried to look up on the app... no reception... still somehow my vaccine got recorded on medicare...

... but its a watch out... i have setup the govid and linked to medicare app at least so dont get all the double verification and with possible of being locked out which is very easy with the gov apps :D

still id rather it in the apple wallet but not possible yet ..so will continue to carry that one.. and theres the driving license ... no option on that yet and even then likely still carry it... phones can die :D

There are ones that shield the cards from unlawful reading. I use one.

Is this really a thing? In Australia?

I see this as a major marketing/selling point in the US and elsewhere but never thought it was something to be concerned about.

@AudioGeek no I have over 2000 vinyl and about 1000 CD. Go figure.

haha. Don’t have to carry them around daily though.

Haha. Yes, but I can carry around not only my own music collection, but a virtually unlimited worldwide catalogue.

Hacker's Demo Shows How Easily Credit Cards Can Be Read Through Clothes And Wallets.

I don't see why this can't happen here in Australia: The tools are easily available, and our greedy bastards are just as criminal-minded as anywhere in the world.

My wallet was gifted to me, and I have the peace of mind walking around, carrying my cards in that wallet.

https://secrid.com/en-us/about/protect-your-cards

"RFID / NFC protected

Modern cards, such as travel cards, creditcards and access cards, contain a chip and antenna for wireless communication. These RFID (Radio-Frequency IDentification) or NFC (Near Field Communication) cards increase convenience, but consequently the risks too. They can be read, activated and cloned from a metre away, without you noticing. Our Cardprotector, the aluminium heart of all our wallets, protects your cards from these kinds of unwanted wireless communication.

Thanks to our patented mechanism and the aluminium casing of the Cardprotector, your cards remain protected even during use. By revealing only a portion of the cards, the sensitivity for the radio signal is substantially reduced but sufficient for contact over short distances. By minimising the exposure, you remain outside the reach of digital pickpockets, even while using your cards."

It's difficult to detect.  For example,  if someone loses their credit card and a dodgy transaction appears in their account, the victim knows it's from when they lost their card.  There's plenty of people who report being a victim of fraudulent transactions but have no idea how it occurred.  If you were to drill down, I bet fraudulent readings of cards would be under-reported.

I have a smaller traditional type.

It doesn't contain what is needed for an upgrade

I will never use my phone for purchasing goods, that is the job of the wallet! the phone is for phone calls!
