RankStranger Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 When I stuffed up my back a few years ago the physio told me to stop sitting on my wallet because it was skewing my hips. I stopped carrying one from then on. I have an iPhone case with a pocket on the back and it holds my licence and my atm card (I could actually live without that but the leather pocket has shaped itself to two cards so my licence would fall out) I keep an old wallet with a couple of non-financial cards in my glovebox but I’d never go back to carrying one around. anyway, anyone who still is should stop sitting on his wallet. Doctor’s orders

Doctor’s orders In the end it's called "hip pocket sciatica" and is incredibly painful and can be disabling. I had it. I made little card case out of a bit of spare, thin leather. Cash is in a money clip I bought in Canada. Both go in a shoulder bag with phone, headphones, pen, paper, block-out cream (top down cruising), tissues, keys, and a few other essentials and non-essentials.

Doctor’s orders I always use other pockets. This habit came about 4 decades ago after learning of people cutting rear pants pockets to lift wallets in crowds at the Ekka. They used razor blades so the wallet just dropped away from the holder. 3

muon* Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 I get sick of the two different balances on ATM receipts, one is useless as some of it is not available due to pending transactions, why have it there it only confuses it with the actual available balance! Hate electronic payments also, with some often taking 3-4 days to complete between purchase and bank draw. All makes it difficult to know where I'm at, and they call this progress pfft! Easier to carry cash IMO. 1

CustomHT Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 I've had one of the Bellroy Hide & Seek Wallets for about 3-4 years. Massive fan of their wallets, especially the quality. They just keep going and going. https://bellroy.com/products/hide-and-seek-wallet/leather_viroblock_lo/basalt#slide-0 1
betty boop Posted May 18, 2021 Author Posted May 18, 2021 hehe saw there was a segment this morning on today show on wallets...about getting as much as can into your phone digital wallet... amazing how much still cant though ! cant get driving licence(in vic), medicare card for sure into the digital wallet... and the myki still doesnt work for apple... am with @Kaynin though... phones die...sometimes dont have reception... can leave your phone... or lock self out of apps and such.. done all these things... the simple wallet is still necessary in my opinoon for essentials... even with credit cards ...how many times been asked for the code on the back... thats not there in the digital wallet ! the today show did highlight an app for loyalty cards ... all the ones that you scan to get them into your digital wallet... will have a look what thats about... will help with a few more 1

I resisted using Fly Buys because I hate adding cards to my wallet. I figured out that with the Fly Buy app there is a button in the top corner which displays the card's barcode, then you just scan the image showing on the phone. One more card that isn't in my wallet! And yes, I need a new one too. I like the look of the Bellroy slim, since I barely use cash any more. 2

So now your is your neck stuffed instead??? I was an early adopter of the minimalist wallet. I got a basic wallet from nomatic about 10 years ago and carried it in my front pocket for extra security as I spent a few weeks overseas each year pre covid. The elastic finally went a few months ago so I got a similar one which includes a coin pocket as it now lives in the car. I just use my apple watch to pay for almost everything. The basic wallet carries medicare/license/health fund/Costco cards and very little else. https://www.nomatic.com/products/wallet 2
