I remember that there used to be such a thread in HWZ which discussed about Hi-Fi magazines, and also about ordering them from overseas as the price is lower. How about starting one here? I believe that many forumers like me are interested to know more and which are the correct ones to buy. This will be helpful to newbies like me too.

some of us here subscribe to Stereophile..work out to be less than $50 per year, including shipping! That's a tremendous saving from buying from the shops.

now with the lower exchange rate, it's even better!

i like The Absolute Sound too..but not worth subscribing..prices not much diff.

Oops! what a pity; they have a wide range of magazines. Perhaps the link is useful to Xtremeplace's US readers.

Sorry folk.........

Care to provide some links on where to order these magazines?

Firstly, from the newstands or Borders, decide which magazine you wish to subscribe.

Inside every magazine, their website is always mentioned.

1) Bring out handy notebook or piece of paper and copy the Url.

2) Go home and log-on. Subscribing to the magazine is the same as ordering DVD online, so much cheaper than buying monthly, or even subscribe from local distibutors (who just take the monthly price x 12).

I only have "What Hi-Fi" in mind.

Other than Stereophile, any other recommendations? I am more into HT and not so much on music.

I would think that Hi-Fi Choice is a better Mag as compared to What Hi-Fi.

Just my opinion.

Recently, I subscribed to "Stereophile Guide to Home Theatre" for US$30 per year.

Considering that its 12 monthly issues delivered to my postbox, and that outside price is >S$12 per magazine (forget the local selling price), this subscription is really worth.

A very good magazine with lots of DVD, HT reviews and trends. They reported that DVD-A and SACD discs are not selling well in US and hence both formats unlikely to succeed, to me an important development news.

Hi guys,

Just to let you know I've links on my personal website to a magazine wholesales in the U.S. where you can get magazines like Stereophile at these discounted rates as well.

The address for my website is http://sundrystore.hypermart.net/books_&_magazines.htm.

Calvin83, I actually signed up for this link because I was hoping to buy What hifi at a discounted rate. Unfortunately, what I've found is that U.K. magazines do not give good discounts to overseas subscribers. They typically give 10% discount for an annual subscripion but charge you overseas postage. The cost of subscribing to what hifi came up to S$22 per ordinary issue! If I find a cheaper alternative, I'll let you now.

In the meantime, if any of you are thinking of subscribing to magazines, I hope you'll give me your support. I need all the help I can get to buy new CDs to listen to my thiels with ;D
