E following is a list of components that need replacement. 1. My super old & cranky yammie sub -> Intend 2 replace /w a REL Strata III @ $1.5K 2. My D.I.Y belden tuner to pre-amp I/C -> Intend 2 replace /w a Nordost blue heaven @ $150 3. My D.I.Y PBJ pre-amp surround to poweramp I/C -> Same as 2.. /w Nordost @ $150. So now is either 2 I/C @ $300 or e REL @ 1.5K. Wat should I go 4?? Currently.. my priority is /w my PC.. but e new mobo r not available yet.. @#$%^&* Phil
lksey Posted May 18, 2002 Posted May 18, 2002 u'll get the biggest improvement/changes when u replace a component. & for me, cables are accessories, not components. imo, one will be better off with a component change. cables can wait.

If you don't mind waiting...can come to my house for Audition when my "setup" is ready...targeting date is mid June or latest end June, this year. If budget is a problem, you may go for Hsu Research VTF-2. If you got more $$$ to spare, Sunfire is the best I've seen so far. Just my humble opinion.

Hah?? $350 new & u got it 2nd hand @ $330?? Ya.. e price is 4 a 1m pair.. then must grab izzit?? hahahah Actually someone oso offer me a pair of blue heaven + red dawn @ $450. Phil

The blue heaven is about $300 to $350 new. I c.. a bit too steep 4 me.. BTW, looks like u r into exotic cables wor.. any other recommendation? Phil
Phil1624705739 Posted May 20, 2002 Author Posted May 20, 2002 [very hard to recommend. all the cables i tried are on stereo setups. i am totally not in HT. my idea of HT is TV and DVDP. ;D all the cables that i tried sound different. its not really easy to say this one sounds better than that one or whatever. just a matter of personal preference and system matching. For me the nordost works well for me, so i see no point in using other cables and have another whole round of evaluation. which IMO is a lot of work and inconvenience. Thats why I'm thinking of trying out b4 I commit.. hows e resale market of Blue Heaven?? E most I buy & if it dun work out.. sell it straight off. Phil

Goin 2 get it @ lunch time... most probably connecting it 2 my CD to Pre or Pre to Power. Oso got a pair of Blue Angel & Black Knight from a fren. Angel is abt e same /w my TKS D.I.Y but black knight is a total disappointment 4 me.. flat & compressed sound. Phil
Phil1624705739 Posted May 24, 2002 Author Posted May 24, 2002 Just complete my 2nd round of evaluation /w Nordost Blue Heaven In term of construction wise.. heaven is in a class of its own.. using e Neutrik plug costing 15 bucks each.. very solid & quality feel. I like 2 play /w e spring loaded contact!!! hahahaha Now 2 e sound.. using Sarah McLachlan Angel (my reference now).. vocal & soundstage sounds a tad smoother & deeper respectively. A bit disappointed here since I'm comparing it /w my original TKS D.I.Y & Nordost Blue Angel. Difference is very subtle but price is abt 2 to 3 times more. Now I throw in my old time favourite Hotel California.. hmm.. sounds different.. do it A/B a few time... now it seems like e pace & rythm is much better.. faster sounding then e rest... e other I/C sounds a bit slow. keke. Following /w tonnes of other CDs from Keiko Matsui (Plano jazz), Carmen Cuesta (Jazz), Govi (New age), Lisa Ekdahl (Jazz). Final conclusion is Blue Heavens have bring back e speed (or izzit attack in Audiophile term?) which I lack 4 my system.. in term of other area like soundstage, clarity & yada yada... slight improvement oni. Next I will connect Blue Heaven to my Pre-Power front & Blue Angel to my CD-Pre. TKS D.I.Y to my Pre-Power rear & Tuner-Pre. See whether that will give me a suprise.. kekeke. I will try it out 4 a week b4 I decide whether 2 get another Blue Heaven My A/B is /w e following I/C 1. Nordost Blue Heaven 2. Nordost Blue Angel 3. TKS Amuater series Phil
