KeyserSoze Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 ??? I can't help it when the TVs here in Perth are PAL and can't play NTSC colours. Is there a converter that allows the signal from my DVD player to convert and use the PAlL TV , without resorting to change a TV ?? Need a low budget solution. Thanks for help people.
pschia Posted July 11, 2002 Posted July 11, 2002 Sharp used to have one years ago which can convert from NTSC to PAL and vice versa when multi system VCRs and TVs are not that prevalent as they are now. I know because I have one myself :). They are not cheap then, about $650. Don't know how much they would cost now even if they are still available. At those prices, you might as well buy a multi-system TV here and bring it back to Australia. Besides, you should note that there would be a visible deterioration in the picture quality after conversion because you are artificially adding or subtracting scan lines that are not there in the first place.
KeyserSoze Posted July 11, 2002 Author Posted July 11, 2002 :-[ yikes, I thought the whole point of having one was to save cost on buying another TV set ... Dang ! I think I'll skip that and watch it on the PC instead.
Jag Posted July 11, 2002 Posted July 11, 2002 Its rather common here. NTSC -> PAL. Can't be that expensive. Maybe about $100 or less. Most DVDPs today are able to convert NTSC/PAL to strictly PAL-only output. My 3-yr old tosh DVDP has such capability anyway.

Jag Posted July 13, 2002 Posted July 13, 2002 Here is SLS ot SLT. There are many such shops that sell them, and like I said, common to find such converters here. Do check in SLS/SLT and U might find such converters at a reasonable price.
