EVD will replace DVD in China mainland?

I heard its China's alternative to DVD.

 

I'll still want to see its PQ and SQ.

 

I believe its like EVD to DVD, just like what SVCD was to VCD.

SVCD was a failure if you ask me, no commercially available software. I was so waiting for it in 1997-98 and thought that it would be DVD quality at VCD price, but POOF, it never took off.

 

The very words used to describe EVD or SDVD almost exactly the same like for SVCD, better, no need to pay royalties and easy to change the production lines of cureent DVD players to play EVD.

 

So this does not stir me at all, most likely will be used for making China documentries and pirate movies.

I think it'll also go the path of SVCD... into thin air.

 

Technically better products not necessarily rule the market.

i think i am interested in its reconding function....if the blank EVD disc are cheap enough(dont forget its from CHINA!),maybe we can reduce it resolution and recond 3 to 4 pcs of D-9 DVD into a EVD without digraded PQ,that will save a lot of space.....or even use it as a alternative's choise, of the DVDR player for our DV.
