Q150 using paper cone.

Strata III abt $1500.

Hence I guess Hsu VTF-2 would be the best buy at that price - $850.

VTF3 not suitable for use in Singapore. Only available in 110V; 220V/230V not expected to be available till the end of the year.

If you are thinking of VTF3, you should also consider REL Q400. If you looking for a kick-ass woofer, see if you get hold of Earthquake SuperNova.

Cheers !

Look out for the VTF3 in Reference Audio...Reviews in HTF and AVSforum were great.

I'm intending to get a good sub soley for HT (sold my goky), intending to use it and not upgrade for a LONG time.

Reference Audio quoted me $980 for the VTF-2. Klaus Audio quoted me $1120 for a small REL sub. KEC recomend an Energy sub for $850.

Anyone had good experience with them, or should I still target the REL Q201? Budget is ok for me, but main consideration is that my HT room is rather small, 5mx3m only.

Hm...someone was selling a Strata 2 here recently. Sold already?

The REL St series appears to have won the hearts of many people around the world.

It certainly has won mine with their REL Strata 2.

From their webby, REL's ST series is optimised for music, while their Q-series is for HT.

If you have the $$$, go for the REL Q201E else will be the Hsu VTF-2 - was quoted $850 sometime last year.

I would not sell my REL Q201E if not the timber / sonical / looks matching of my new speaker setup.

All rite... we r 1 happy family.. happy owner of Strata III..

BTW, dun understand why some folks complain Strata III is weak 4 HT... find it a fine sub in both field.. Maybe they demo e sub without using both low & high level inputs.

Hehehe.. me on both.. shiok!

Sorry to deviate from the main topic but anyone have heard or tried the SV Subwoofers as mentioned in AVS Forum? Heard its pretty impressive and quite popular there...

Nvr seen it having a distributor in singapore.....not sure of their distribution channels, but I think it sells on-line only. But I'm quite sure shipping charges will skyrocket based on its size alone.

You could try to DIY one, having read that its build quality leaves much to be desired.

But its very american..... large.... loud...low ... and over-engineered! Of which all are good in my books.

Think got S'porean imported it before, the 20-39 model cost him US$150 just for shipping door-door. When you add up the costs, not really worth it IMHO.

Thanks for the inputs guys. Have to really consider the WAF. BTW, do you know where can I get the RCA caps 'cos me getting my new amp - hopefully today.

Cheers.

Yes...they are the agent and probably the VTF-3 is not ready for Asian market yet...just like the Klipsch Promedia 5.1

If you are interested in the cyclindrical subs, maybe you can try asking about the HSU TN series at Reference Audio then.

I think the TN series does not comes with the amplifier. Need to double check just in case.

You are right. They don't come with an amp. If you got a spare amp/channel, you can use that to drive the sub with the xover in the receiver.
