JT Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 Any comments or review for M71 & M72 Mission Cinema pack? What is the best amplifier to use with these speakers? Where is the best shop in Singapore to buy this speaker package?

Guest damnit Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 Yup can try KEC at Adelphi or People's Audio at Chinatown area. I'm using the m74s and the receiver is a Yamaha 620 :)
bagegar Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 I'm also using the M74s, M7c1 & M7ds together with a Denon 1802 and Pioneer K301. They sound pretty good to me as I'm a beginner in HT. Tested them in KEC but finally bought them 6 mths ago from People's Audio becos they gave me a better price.
Guest Diablo Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 Tested them in KEC but finally bought them 6 mths ago from People's Audio becos they gave me a better price. wa lau ... spoilt market.
desray Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 As a consumer perspective...I guess everyone will abandon "loyalty"... :(
keith Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 I using a M71s, M7c1 & M7ds together with a micro sub pairing with a yammie 530 from KEC. Now burning in the spkr.
bagegar Posted August 28, 2002 Posted August 28, 2002 Tested them in KEC but finally bought them 6 mths ago from People's Audio becos they gave me a better price. wa lau ... spoilt market. I had a limited buget and PA gave me an offer I can't refuse. But I must recommend KEC for good advise and service.

I hope u oni bug KEC once... coz if u keep em occupied 4 a long time but end up buying from other... might end-up in e KEC bros bor chap list. Not a good practice.. Phil
Guest duckling Posted August 28, 2002 Posted August 28, 2002 I had a limited buget and PA gave me an offer I can't refuse. But I must recommend KEC for good advise and service. Just curious on the offers...how much did each of them quoted you? Say...KEC priced at ?? and PA priced at ??
bagegar Posted August 28, 2002 Posted August 28, 2002 jw & duckling, I went to KEC twice on weekdays, I was comparing warferdale vs. mission speakers & Yamaha 620 vs Denon 1802 HT amps. They normally are more free on weekdays and are also more willing to demo systems & give you advise. People's Audio's showroom is a lousy place to test HT systems. Jan 2002, estimated Prices: Mission M74s, M7c1 & M7ds + Paradigm PDR-10 + Denon 1802 KEC: $2500 approx. PA: $2350 approx. Both gives free co-axial audio cable & speaker cables. I don't have the reciepts but prices should be lower now.
Guest duckling Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 Wow!! For $150, you actually buy from PA when KEC offer you advise, demos and their precious time? How would you feel if you were KEC? So the $150 is your "so-called" irresistable offer given by PA!!
desray Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 $150.00 to some pple meant a fairly big amount also wah...$15.00 also money. I think each to its own. But I agreed with Phil, hope this is the first and last thing everyone of us do...try not to have such a mindset of having to go to a shop with better audition condition and audition the set and then "abandon" after your get what you want. May not be that nice lar... If I'm the boss I also cannot "tahan"...:P
jw Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 hey...i'm sure it's a NO OBLIGATION demo right?? S$150 is still saving...
desray Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 Second that...jw. :) Not everyone is rich here...
Guest damnit Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 To me, $150 is not a great amount but why waste the money when you can save this amount? $150 can mean REALLY a lot to others. Agree that Clarence(KEC) is a very nice guy and does not give you black face when you ask for demo. I'm sure with his pleasure way of doing business, lots of people will still get their stuff from him. But as someone stated, dun take advantage lah, except maybe to Harvey N*****, B*** De***, C****ts, etc ;D ;D ;D
Guest duckling Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 Sure $150 is savings...no obligation demos...blah blah blah...but no one seems to have answered my question!! How do you feel if you were KEC??
jw Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 "Arm Tui" lor....hahaha... or "Pui" saliva lor... and my personal comments, this is part & parcel of doing business...doesn't means that when i give a demo or quotation to a potential client, and i'll expect the potential client to buy from me.....BUT, if i know that my competitor is offering slightly lower prices than ME...i'll definitely match it!!.. ;) ;) on the other hand, typical singaporeans, if there is a petrol company offering 5% discount on petrol, you will see all singaporean driver start queueing outside the petrol kiosk.....5% discount is alot!!
desray Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 Wow...talking in terms of monopolisation here...Pertol companies is of a different economic class...brudder. Can't compare that to AV gadgets lar. It very much comes to the dependency of elasticity of the demand of the products in question here...:) To answer Duckling question: Yes! if I were KEC knowing in advance that some customer coming in to ask for audition with no intention to buy from him watsoever...I'll be very pissed off...!!! But in business world...the fittest survives! One person/customer will not make a great impact to the shop's years of good services rendered...nor will it make a definite loss should the one customer chose not to get the product from the shop too...As long as there's a solid ground foundation formed throughout the years. Nothings gonna change the fact that one KEC is a better one as compared to other AV shops in Singapore. :D
ivancen Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 $150 is good savings IMO. It's not like $15 or $20 then no point jump ship. That's prob the price of my "loyalty". However if u think abt it, diff pple price loyalty differently, prob depending on their pay cheque. but i agree i will not want to bother a shop that i know i wun buy from. feel paiseh.

I agreed with jw...but was wondering if bagegar had asked KEC for better price and at the sametime hint that other shop is selling cheaper?

So the $150 is your "so-called" irresistable offer given by PA!! I'm not sure how much is your monthly income, but to me $150 is significant. KEC guy's job is to advise, demo & SELL their AV systems. Sometimes, to strike a deal you have to be flexible on price, and close the deal. They were quite rigid on the price despite me visiting them twice, perhaps the fact that i was a newbie contributed to their attitude. Lastly, I visited People's Audio (1 visit only). The guy there likewise demo their AV systems and quoted their price. I of course offered them a lower price and they were willing to negotiate to a deal. I still recommend both KEC & PA to friends & strangers, but as a consumer it is your duty to get the best value from your dollar, may it be price and/or service. And to answer duckling's question: How do you feel if you were KEC? Sometimes you win & sometimes you lose. That's life, you have to accept it, despite doing everything you think is right for the customer. The customer will have the final say as he votes with his dollars. Note: I'm also in the "sales" business.

Note: I'm also in the "sales" business. At least the story is clearer now...and thanks bagegar for taking my remarks positively. FYI, I am not related to KEC. ;D I do agreed with you that KEC's pricing are at times higher than other shops and barginning wise depends very much on their mood. Actually, I've a few examples on KEC's pricing: - Interconnect $150, other shop $110 - Speaker cables $49/m w/o termination, other shop $45/m inclusive of termination. - CDP $899, other shop $800. (BTW, I did not audition any of the above at KEC) For those who know me will understand which other shop I am talking about. ;D
bagegar Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 For those who know me will understand which other shop I am talking about. ;D Can you IM me that "other shop's" name and address for my future upgrades ?
