Octave Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 Hi can anyone guide me to setup a simple HT. My question is: Is it good to start with a dvdp with built in decoder cause at present i have 2 set of pre/power amp which can directly hook up to front and rear spk. As for the centre spk to the TV spk and a active sub or buy a dvdp w/o decoder and sell my pre/power to get a AV amp pls give me your precious opinion but do consider budget as well thank you very much.
Phil1624705739 Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 Too messy if u wanna salvage ya current pre/power... 4 begineers u r better off starting /w A/V receivers & amps... Phil
Guest Diablo Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 agreed. very messy. if you want to keep ur pre/power, buy a av receiver with pre-out and use ur pre/power to power ur fronts.
tcw Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 The built-in decoder of a DVD Player is generally poorer quality than those found in AV Amplifiers. I strongly advise you to get a good AV Amplifier, and let the AV Amp perform the decoding.

Octave, Rather than rely on hearsay, whay don't U pay a visit friendly visit to Kec. Clerance will introduce you to the world of intergrated Av processors. First thing to do is set aside a budget , so you don't blow a hole in U'r pocket. Then comes the best part auditioning the gear... Just tell Clerance U'r interest and your current set up ,budget and he will be able to help u. Cheers Area51
