I am looking for AV amp,Can you guys advise me which amp is suitable for my setup:Main spk NHT superzero, center spk monitor audio Bronze series,Surround spk Boston acoustics,Subwoofer REL Strata. Is Yamaha 1200 powerful to drive my setup???

My choice of Amp Denon 2802 ard $1100,Yamaha1200 ard $1100......What amp would u recommend n would mind share ur experience???? :D

Both choices are equally good, in their own ways.

Its not easy to say which is better or worse, so the best way is to let your ears decide. Ask for a demo from those shops.

If u feel you still can't decide after a demo, download their user manuals and decide for yourself which features are most applicable to you.

The only diff between them is sound character and their user features.

hope this helps

I believe the NHT require more power to drive them. Try your choices first, and include Yamaha 2200 in your consideration. You must listen to them in order to make an informed choice because Specs do not tell the whole story.

The trick is how to listen to them with your speakers....

It may sound totally different from the shop after you bring it home. Too bad shops in SG don't give loaners or have return/exchange policies.

Thank U all for the advise :D .Is there anyone have compare the Denon 3802 or 2802 Vs yamaha 1200 or 2200? I belived that nowaday product of Yamaha is not as powerful/dynamic as Denon of the same rms rating.Do U agree with me ;D ;D

First gotta compare apples with apples...

1200 vs 2802 is more appropriate than against 3802 (due to price diff and 6 channel vs 7 channel).

If u compare these 2, I think they're quite close in terms of power. Yamaha has lots of DSP and HT performance that are pretty good, but I think Denon sounds better when comparing playing stereo CDs.

It's up to you. I play more HT than stereo music so I went for Yamaha 1200.

;D

if said Denon3802 is better then 2802,or A1SR is better then 3802,i agree....

but there are no such thing as brand A AVamp are "Better" then Brand B AVamp if they are about the same price...

too many setting and spk matching element involve...

its the singer, not the song~~it mean how u set up ur surround system is important then what Brand u use if its about the same price...

BTW In japanese AV amp,Denon and onkyo and marantz etc are at different direction/concept with Sony and Yamaha....

the Denon side more toward THX kind of "try to leave the original DTS and DD alone" without adding extra hall effect.....something like "bring u into the movie" in the director pt of view...

while Sony and Yamaha like to use their "DSP" processing teahnology to bring the hall to ur room, thats why they got different kind of hall/theater surround effect name when compare to the Denon side...also thats why they never believe in THX...

no way we cant said which is "better".....its all depend on wheater u like those added in so call "hall effect",on ur oringinal DTS/DD surround sound or not...

Didn't know 3802 has THX.... ??? ???

Both denon's and yamaha's remote suck....... althou yamaha's remote slightly more organised and neat.

Yamaha had got DTS-ES/DD-EX too.... Dolby headphones too.

price wise really depends on the shop (not sure of the price today, but denon was more expensive 8 mths ago)

Yamaha has got 0.5dB volume ajustments, centre channel EQ for matching, LFE channel matching, discrete codes for philips pronto, 3 choices of dynamic range and Yamaha's powerful DSP modes (Give yamaha's Enhanced surround an audition and see if u like it). Besides the faceplate was very pleasing to the eye. ;D

IMHO, during my audition, I felt 2200 had more impact and slam over the 3802. But the 3802 seemed to be more pleasant in stereo music.

But then I bought the AV receiver for HT instead of stereo music, so I went with Yamaha.

IMHO, both are great receivers, just choose according to your preference.
