The strange thing is that it is coming from the wall-socket ! When this high pitch sound is active and when I switch on the TV ... I got a lot of lines appear in front of the picture ... as though the antenna was not connected properly.

Its prob a faulty amp if the speakers make this whining sound.

Or try grounding your amp. :)

Seems strange, I can only think of a bad connection between your wall socket and your plug.. Like there is some sort of electric arch..... That would also explain the stripes on your TV since It introduces a lot of noise on your 220 volt line...

Check that wall socket would be my first guess..

After fully trace the high-pitch sound sources, it was discover that it came from the extension socket/plug (6 terminals) which comes with built-in filter and Surge protector functions ..... which was less than 50cm aways from the main wall socket. Hmmm .... at 1st thought sound came from the wall socket ... ha ... ha ...

Yes , the extension socket internal circuitry give out noise as I have not switch on any equipment already hear the pitching sound.

Well ... think it's time to change the extension socket ...

Today happy-happy bought new extension socket to replace present "problem" extension socket.

Pulled out all the plugs from the old extension socket and inserted all the plugs into the new extension socket.

All set and ready to go .... click ... on my remote socket sensor switch to turn on the main power from the wall socket .... almost drop down from my chair ... the high pitch sound still there !!!

OMG .... what is happening ??? ... this time I switch off one switch at a time to narrow down where the high pitch sound came from ..... at long last found the trouble maker unit - the video tape recorder !!! Which is humming happily .... well, think it's time to rest the VTR and move on to some new recording medium.
