username Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 hey guys, just wanna check what kind of cables do u all use to connect your DVD player to AMP and what kind of cables to use to connect from AMP to TV?i am looking for mid range cables...but dunno what to get... from AMP to TV,do u guys use like say Component cables or do u guys just use composite? Thanks
dbchoong Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 If possible, use component. If not, use S-video. If still not possible, the last choice is composite video. Picture quality on component and s-video beats composite video hands down. ;D
Guest queks Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 agreed. Unless you got no choice. Otherwise, component then S-video then composite
username Posted November 10, 2002 Author Posted November 10, 2002 cause i am quite disappointed with the pic quality now...not sharp at all...as in not even good enough lor...so i though maybe it has to do with the cable, very unlikely is the dvd player right?i using a pioneer 355.. and by the way,how much does those component cables cost?thanks again
Guest queks Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 Any electrical shop or audio shop. Its those cable with 3 RCA head on each side.
username Posted November 10, 2002 Author Posted November 10, 2002 i think u must make sure yr tv have component inputs...by the guys, whats a good and affordable cable to connect DVD player to AMP and what are they called?
digital601 Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 most dvdp manufacturer recommend to connect directly to TV for best picture quality. unless U have too many video source:dvdp, vhs, cable tv, games cosol....,use your reciever as video swicther which will downgrade pic.quality. use component as 1st choice if tv accept.
digital601 Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Thanks queks. So any component cable will do the job perfectly and there is no need for us to look out for any specific brand? Any electrical shop or audio shop. Its those cable with 3 RCA head on each side. make sure its 75 ohm coaxial cable.
Jag Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Belden 1694a are excellent as component cables. Canare cables are great too! Both are used in video mastering studios and broadcast industries. Hey, I can give ya a set of component cables on top of the amp, FOC. ;)
Guest queks Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Some branded cable selling a few hundreds and some only selling tens of $. So i'm sure there are diff. between branded and non branded cable. But if your eyes cant tell the diff, then any cable will do. To username : from dvd to amp for audio, IMHO, for short distance, i prefer optical connection. For longer distance or sharp bend, i used coaxial.
