Just wondering if any of you are aware of any DVD player or possible solutions to output progressive scan output from 2 separate sets of component video terminals from one DVD player.

Currently i'm using the Philips Q50 which thankfully has at least 2 component video out - one is progessive scan and one is interlaced. Application is to run one output to my projector and another into my plasma.

Any other similar players like the Q50 or even better with 2 progressive outputs? Besides the option of using 2 DVD players of course.

Cheers!

alternative is p.s. ouput by component & vga (using 15 pin vga cable) ! so that you don't need to compromise on the dvdp model (& its quality) having 2 component outputs, though again not much models have such features (you can find them on China-made dvdps)

or else some high-end dvdp will hv alternate output such as Toshiba 9500 which got 5BNC p.s. output for projector/plasma and it is very very good.

cheers

Actually many big brands approach contract manufacturers in china to do their manufacturing. But these big brands have experienced engineers and quality process to keep to quality high.

The born in China brands like BBE, Shinco still have lotsa room to improve even though they have prog scan, DD/DTS built-in.

Their implemented product design is years behind those jap brands.

yep agreed. but many still buy shinco i don't know why??

hmm maybe because of price? any shinco fans here? any, its not just av, many computer parts have been from china for donkey years, and without foreign talents from jap or us mncs stationed there to hold their hands

its just a mindset issue for me once you find the right china suppliers. i know some firends who condemned say made in china speakers and then in the same breadth say they luv altec lansing computer speakers. figure that out ??? ::)

For 1, I bought a Shinco8700 DVDP. Just only because it has features no other brand has.

Actually, even mark Levinson has also commisioned and re-badge designed in china hi-fi amps for sale.

Just that designed in china products are not the same as manufactured in china products. Designed in china products have a longer way to go before catching up to the experience of the jap designers.

If i recall, there was a posting here some time ago saying that the output appear dim when both the component and VGA out was used at the same time.

Anyway, one of the reason i bought the Q50 was precisely that it had 2 component video out and both worked equally well simultaneouly.

Also checked with KEC and Yamaha on the cx1 earlier today. Both claimed they have not heard of this model. *sigh* Maybe will check with the Hifi exhibition this weekend at the Meridian.

Probably will live with the Q50 for a longer while.

not true, i even saw a dvd player designed in china as a car, i think the japanese car loving folks are behind in this aspect. imagine a showpiece dvd posh car with dvd functions and features :o:o
