THX cables or I/C means squat........

THX DVDP means the DVDP has got exceptionally high video SNR, with very tight tolerance possible only thru extensive R&D into that DVDP. To us, it means a fanstastic DVDP at sky-high prices.

THX amp means it has THX processing capabilities; namely decorrelation, re-equalisation and timber matching. It will also include other options exclusive to THX, eg, subwoofer boundary mode option, THX EX and several others.

A THX amp also has to meet minimum technical critierior, eg, intermod distortion, power reserves, SNR etc..... all in all, its an effort to ensure the amp provides a minimum standard.

To the average joe, it simply means it should kick butt, make everyone else envious yet maintain a high standard without actually needing to know nor understand what actually THX is.

However, it is a common misconception that a THX cert amp automatically is superior to a non THX -cert one. I assure everyone this is not the case!

Re-phrased.

THX cables or I/Cs means nothing!

A more technical explanation why would take too long to write, but........

simply said, THX cables will not look like those half-past six cables sold for $1 like those in SLT.

So you mean those interconnect that have been certified by THX is as good as useless ....

I meant THX cables have a high standard......just that most cables, eg.Beldens, have just as high, if not higher standards.

Rephrased correctly, THX cables are useful, just that the THX certification on them is less meaningful than those on power amps or processors.

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but THX HT amps tend to use both software & hardware decoding nowadays. That Hw/Sw line is fading away gradually as we advance in technology.

There are also THX-cert. DVDs, but nowadays, there are many DVDs that have fantastic PQ & SQ yet not THX cert.

THX is a mere set standards for equipment, not for SQ. Otherwise most tube amps would already be THX certified.
