Drizt Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 HI Guys, Since I have had my squeezebox i haven't been using my rotel so I am contemplating selling my CD player. Its a sensational player and it sounds better than my squeezebox but I love the convience of the SB3 and can't see myself using the CDP all that often. It seems a waste to have such a good piece of kit just sitting there doing nothing. Heres a thread where I compared the Rotel to the Squeezebox. -> http://www.stereo.net.au/forum/index.php?showtopic=3922 If your interested in the player let me know and ill contact you first if I do decide to sell the unit. I've noted a number of sales and they have all sold between $500 and $550. I'll be realistic and say I'm looking for $500. The unit is in fantastic nick, and can't be faulted. I have the original double boxing and are willing to ship anywhere in Australia at the buyers cost. Regards, Drizt.
Phil G Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Hi Drizt. If it does not sell here, then eBay will be the way to go as there seems to be plenty of Rotel fans who buy from there. I would even guess you would get a bit more for it on eBay. Good luck.
dasherhalo Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 True. I recently bought and sold a Rotel power amp on ebay, making a decent profit. They're all rotel mad!
Drizt Posted August 27, 2007 Author Posted August 27, 2007 Thanks Guys, I must just do that if no one is interested here. Its now up for sale, I made a decision
roachy Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Hi Dritz, I was actually very seriously considering buying the Rotel, but after doing some reading in your other thread (and elswhere) I think I've decided on a squeezebox!!!! So thank you for helping me in my new purchase and sorry you talked yourself out of the sale  Good luck with the sale though. It's a good price for what seems to be a very capable CDP Cheers Greg
obiwan Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Yep, talked me into the Squeezebox too. Who knows, you may see an Arcam FMJCD33 up for sale!!!!
Drizt Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Doh... talked myself into this one O well, Im glad I helped out some others B) Hopefully theres still someone out there that wants this very capable player
Bronal Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 obiwan: I may shortly have an FMJ CD23 for sale, if that's of any interest. Waiting for the Denon 3910 to arrive. Alan
blackfox Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 have sent you a PM Drizt[/b] just wondering if this has been sold yet? I have a fairly good cd player was just bout to buy a musilind DAC but the onboard DAC in this deck might mean I can get a nicer transport with a quality inbuild DAC for some more dollars.

blackfox Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Hasn't sold yet mate [/b] just looking at a few options right now, in honesty how does this sound? I love listening to classical, soft rock, Dance, Techno and easy listening. I was looking at buying a DAC down the track to use for Audio cd's (doesn't have a HDCD dac inbuilt ) anyways I was looking at a HK HD 755 for $300 would this one blow it out of the water for what i listen to? The rest of my system is Rotel so would love to keep it all the same. cheers mate

I know the rotel is better than a SB3 for sound quality and the rotel has held its own against some other players out there, and been beaten by some. Its a great entry level player.
Amadeus Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Hi Dritz, have you already sold the ROTEL 1072 ? Sorry mate, I haven't heard the HK to compare. Mr_Gimlet Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Thanks for all of the interested guys. The unit is now gone.[/b] So can you afford a pre/pro now?
Waylander Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Congrats mate? Money going towards a DAC?
Drizt Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 Congrats mate? Money going towards a DAC?[/b] Sure is mate  So can you afford a pre/pro now?[/b] All shall be revealed when I make the purchase
Waylander Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I'm toying with the idea of getting a SB3 (for convenience because I am lazy) this week too.... Too bad my cdp doesn't have any inputs so I could use the SB3 with the Creek cdp's DAC. Might need to get a separate DAC etc etc Ahh well - I'm sure by the time we are 45-55 we will have cupboards full of old hi-fi gear just like lots of the elder statesman on this forum. Until then I have too much to buy and not enough money.

Even if its just for playing around with, or setting up playlists for when friends are over, or simply for background music, its super functional. And now I have over 4000 songs in FLAC on my computer to create playlists from. Very very handy.
Drizt Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 Congrats and all the best Drizt[/b] Cheers, mate. Long time no see, I suppose I'm going to have to get my arse over your way some day to pay a visit, i haven't made the pilgrimage
