Jag Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Those drivers you see are 12" drivers. A total of 4 drivers used for this super sub............ with a total weight of about 100kg. Enclosure size Amplifer power to make it sing : between 1.5kW to 3kW Is it for home theater? Yes it is!
ABT Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 For those interested, it would cost a whopping US$2.5K (excluding shipping). :o
Hitokiri_Battousai Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 how bloody low can that go???? Looks like a real beast!
Raining Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Looks like even professional amps like Carvin can barely drive this beast ! :o Home-crafted or commercially made ?
Raining Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 The latest offering by SVS -->> B4-Plus Offered with an external Crown K1 amp ( 750 WPC at 2 ohms ) but recommanded power: quote ""This is a passive sub which will be geared to amps from 1,500 to 5,000 watts. Tom will no doubt be happy to explain the ground breaking testing results he got. It's big (this is an SVS, you are surprised??) and in this case, hardly inexpensive (though prices will be announced shortly in the SVS News section, we're still working the numbers). It's the anvil of the SVS lineup." :o
rock123 Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 jag ,abt , i aiming this liao.. powerpacked! this is what i looking for , compact and power. the cylinders series damn bulky/..IOI but the power rating of this babe scare the hell out of me.. http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111058&highlight=Stimpson
ABT Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Hi bro. You're right about the power but I doubt it will be compact. Assuming it weighs about 100kg, it gonna be quite massive and maybe too big to be a coffee table. :o
rock123 Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 yeh loh 100kg is damn crazy.. wakau faint liao ::) but at least the height is much much lower.. ;D
rock123 Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=215633 the following is by the guy who audit the power sub " But the shocker to us all was Pearl Harbor. None of us had any idea there was such tremendous bass in certain scenes of that movie. Previously I only watched the movie once, in my family room, which has no surround sound (it's a chick flick after all). My friends and I almost jumped completely out of our chairs during the attack scene when the black cook, watched nervously, while the propeller on the bomb stopped spinning, and he said, "Son of a BITCH!" OMG this explosion caught us totally off guard, which was one of the loudest explosions we have ever heard in a movie. It not only shook the room we were in, but my "ENTIRE" house. It scared the hell out "most" of us (some of my friends needed a trip to the bathroom immediately following that scene:laugh: ). Before I started replaying this scene to measure it's output I went upstairs (no kidding) to make sure nothing was broke. Actually I found myself doing this several times throughout the day. The next 2 movies I tried were Jurassic Park III "The Dino Duel" scene and Star Wars AOTC “the Return To Corusant" scene, where the ships fly overhead, also the assassination attempt. These scenes give most subs “fits”, and I wanted to see how the B4 measured up to this challenge of mine. It handled both movie scenes flawlessly, even at reference levels! During all of these bass intensive scenes, the "B4" not only did not show any signs of driver strain or port noise; it didn't even break a sweat. None of us could believe what we were hearing & feeling from this "BEAST"! The SPL levels for the pearl harbour scene is very high! Svs sub owners , try out the pearl harbour scene ! abt, got time , i bring my pearl harbour vista series director cut original region 1 and try it on u sub..
