hw Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 i remember vaguely the shop at Shaw Towers has it...go check it out... the Shaw at Beach Road..don't know what level though.
Guest jonlee Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 I believe they have the HEART series of CD6000, not the AH TJOEB. i remember vaguely the shop at Shaw Towers has it...go check it out... the Shaw at Beach Road..don't know what level though.
hw Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 oic.... no harm checking out..maybe better than ah!tjoeb ;)
mpireq Posted September 5, 2003 Author Posted September 5, 2003 hi hw......... tz for the lead...... i hope the heart 6000 is 2nd hand though...... if it's 1st hand, it's no harm checking, but terrible harm on the pocket :D any idea wat's the price like as well?? seems like i keep going over my budget :D oic.... no harm checking out..maybe better than ah!tjoeb ;)

hw Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 woah..so ex... even die-hard Marantz supporter like me will think twice...kekekeke...
Guest jonlee Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 i think ongus once said : buy a ticket and fly to hong kong to buy the heart 6000, still cheaper than buying in singapore. ps ongus : if I remember wrongly, don't scold me. :) woah..so ex... even die-hard Marantz supporter like me will think twice...kekekeke...
mpireq Posted September 5, 2003 Author Posted September 5, 2003 yeah men!!! i juz called the local distributor up..... the Heart CD6000 is retailed at $2200!!!! Fwwaaaahhh!!!! :o but there's no stock now.... have to wait for another 2 more weeks..... i'll wait for another 2 yrs for a 2nd hand ;D should be $2k plus...
mpireq Posted September 5, 2003 Author Posted September 5, 2003 i juz checked wif "Simply Music" at Burlington Square and they have a used AH! Marantz CD38 TJOEB '99..... they'r selling it at $650!!! :o was actualli quite taken aback by their asking price, coz it's oredi 4 yrs old n I was expecting it to cost less than $500 or less?? ;D or have i underestimated this player? :-\ (if it's the AH! CD4000 Njoe Tjoeb, i'll fly down immediateli to grab it) is $650 the mkt rate for this player?
ongus Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 i think ongus once said : buy a ticket and fly to hong kong to buy the heart 6000, still cheaper than buying in singapore. ps ongus : if I remember wrongly, don't scold me. :) That is correct. Between 6 and 12 months back, a friend from HK told me new Heart CD5000 retails for HK$2,700 and new Heart CD6000 retails for HK$5,300. Don't know whether this is still the case. S$1=HK$4.3 Separately, there are lots of posts re comparisons between Heart and Ah Tjoeb in audioasylum.com and if memory serves me right, most of them thought Heart is better.
mpireq Posted September 5, 2003 Author Posted September 5, 2003 FWWAAAHH!! the quoted $2200 is double the price in HK!!!! rilly could take a flight to HK, eat a bowl of wanton mee, den come back!!!! kaoz!! :o i juz found a used CD63 KI.... gonna be fun shopping ;D i noe the CD63KI is of a different league, but superb for the wallet :D mayb get it modified to Tjoeb!, change the clock and the bonus: copper chasis :D i noe some bros wouldnt agree at playing wif CDPs, coz the transport and pick-up will give way sooner or later..... but guess it'd be fun to see the improvements (or damage) each mod makes..... any bros wanna voice their personal experience wif this CD63 KI? :) That is correct. hw Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 the CD63KI is the component that was never replaced in my setup in the last 5 yrs ;) but it has been modified a few times ;) the 7-yr-old transport finally gave way recently and it's currently been fixed..no big issue ;)
Mackie1624705753 Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 I was quoted $1800 when Heart CD6000 was launched and there was barely one year ago. I wonder what's the reason behind this price inflation. Btw, I have a friend who bought a Consonance Opera 1.1 cdp from China about a month ago. Check it out. http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?board=15;action=display;threadid=19853;start=0#lastPost
mpireq Posted September 6, 2003 Author Posted September 6, 2003 hw: icic..... good to hear the good comments bout the cd63ki..... oredi contacted the seller for an audition :) but at the same time, oso asked the 2nd hand audio shop near sungei road to help me source for CDP and int amps (looking for analog sound) :) mackie, the person i toked to over the phone told me $2200 is the list price and would be adjusted AFTER the shipment arrives in SG....... weird?! i wonder wat he means by tat?? i'll check out the opera consonance CDP..... tz for the lead ;)

hw Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 yeah..got it from a nice chap for $400 in late 1998. and i believe it's already 1 or 2 yrs old (based on the warranty card he gave me). never give me any problem until middle of this year when it refused to read any CD's TOC after being dormant for 6 months. given the venerability of this evergreen CDP, i guess $300 to $350 is still ok lah ;D
mpireq Posted September 7, 2003 Author Posted September 7, 2003 hw: i was thinking $300 for the cd63ki would be a reasonable price, as i dun foresee a problem re-selling it for anything above $200 in a yr's time.... minimal loss!! :D now i'm looking at a vintage luxman 85 tat's selling for $850!!! shucks!! hell.... this 20 yr old thing goes for this money???!!! but when the music was played through this amp wif a cheapo 5 yr old $100 denon dcd-590 CDP through my bookshelves (i brought my spiks to the shop for audition :D), i was TOTALLI mesmerized and blown off!!! it's transformed the slightli feminine and lean nature of my spiks to a domineering male species, yet wif a sensitive, smooth touch (SNAG??) :D wow!!! the transient attack and the extension of the "tails" of strings!! the details!!! and all these wif minimal trace of a digital source!!!! and even in this listening condition, i could make out the depth of the stage and its imaging across! and all these done wif MUSICALITY and PACE: main criterias for my set-up!!!! juz imagine..... this 2nd hand is along a road..... no air-con type...... using black-red (basic of the basic) ICs and skinny spik wires.... spiks mereli 1m apart, very slightli toed in!!!! how will it sound in room conditions?!! wow! ;D but then again!!!! $850 for a vintage? shucks!!! sometimes i listen too much to my ears!!?? :D and l could lend up wif a retro-looking 20kg paperweight on my desk!! ;D i think i'm gonna overspend, yet again!! any luck tat u've come into touch wif this amp, Luxman 85? yeah..got it from a nice chap for $400 in late 1998. and i believe it's already 1 or 2 yrs old (based on the warranty card he gave me). never give me any problem until middle of this year when it refused to read any CD's TOC after being dormant for 6 months. given the venerability of this evergreen CDP, i guess $300 to $350 is still ok lah ;D
hw Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 i'm not surprised that a vintage can be asking for $850. You heard it yourself.. it blew u away! so now, would it blow away your budget as well? ;) i see u've been doing alot of homework...that's part of the fun! kekeke..

mpireq Posted September 7, 2003 Author Posted September 7, 2003 hw: the $850 amp definiteli BLEW my budget BIG TIME!! ;D i've a $1k budget with int amp and CDP wif basic belden 89259 & 89207 ICs (for testing) and 1860A spik wires... so i'll give up getting a decent n desirable CDP and make do wif probabli the Denon DCD590 (<$100) which i listened to at the shop...... then save up some more mullas to get a more decent player..... i'll have a choice then, to kip the denon CDP (for spare) or sell it at $50 8) i've to psycho myself now tat..... afterall the CDP is always the 1st to go bust, den i dun feel so bad.... ;D i'm still undecided, but will make my decision by the end of nex week!! my room is soundless now, and i couldnt take it!! i'm still very new in the home hi-fi equipment arena n learnt a great deal from fellow forumers, including urself tz men! :D i'm not surprised that a vintage can be asking for $850. You heard it yourself.. it blew u away! so now, would it blow away your budget as well? ;) i see u've been doing alot of homework...that's part of the fun! kekeke..
mpireq Posted September 7, 2003 Author Posted September 7, 2003 hi tool...... my apologies..... i dun rilly understand ur statement...... but i'll try to interpret and explain..... and pls guide me along, as i'm quite new to audio equipment :) i've tested the equipment in a crappy environment (unlike those aldephi sound-proofed, treated, aircon "acoustical" rooms) with ppl walking in and out distracting my listening, so i reckon the system should probabli sound much better in my room environment..... is my assumption incorrect? can you bring the room, (i.e. the shop) home too? sorry to burst your bubble.....
