Guest JohnA Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I am selling my 400D twin lens kit which was purchased from an authorised dealer here in Melbourne on the 8/10/06 Has had very little use and both the body and both lenses are in perfect condition. The lenses that come with it are a canon 18-55 and a canon 75-300 Also included in this sale is an original canon BG-E3 battery grip 4 x batteries 2 x uv filters asking for $1250 for the lot I still have all packaging also Would prefer local pickup, but happy to ship at buyers expense
Gee Emm Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 G'day JohnA Nice gear. Being replaced? Good luck with the sale. G
norpus Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Yes looking at getting the new 40D[/b] What is the major difference in features John?
Drizt Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I was very impressed with John's camera when he demo'd it to me at the Melody GTG. He was easily able to take pictures in extremely low light without any problems... oh and the pictures looked superb. My point and shoot could never have taken those pictures. Good luck with the sale John.
Guest JohnA Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Norpus the major differences are 40d 6.5 fps up to max 75 shots compared to 400D 3fps up to 27 shots good for sport and wildlife shooting 40d iso 100-1600 can go to 3200 but sreps up better 100 125 etc compared to 400d 100-1600 but steps up 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 40d 1/8000 shutter speed compared to 1/4000 shutter speed live view on the 40d although not a huge selling point for me as i like to use the view finder better body and sealing on the 40d better af assist and spot metering is a big plus for me the 400d didn't have spot metering 40d has the new 14 bit resolution and ofcourse price the 40D body only is $1999 Drizt, thanks for the kind words, the lens plays a big part on that role though, but this camera for the hobbyist is a great starting point with everything you need to start off in this package
Nolz Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I saw your threaed and promptly sms'd a mate that was in the market. Unfortunatley he took delivery of his 400D last week this would have been perfect otherwise. I remember when I went from my 300D --> 20D ahhhh it was love at first click. Good luck with the sale, I dont think you'll have much problem moving it. They sell themselves really. Great bit of kit!
Keith_W Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 The no. 1 feature for me would be the extra control wheel. I shoot manual very often and I like having the extra control wheel.
steverc Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Don't tempt me John. I've wanted one of these for a long time but i withstood the urge many a time. and now you hang this carrot in front of my nose. Let me think about it.
Guest JohnA Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 sorry about that did i mention that i may throw in a 1gig cf card to the lucky purchaser
steverc Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 sorry about thatdid i mention that i may throw in a 1gig cf card to the lucky purchaser [/b] You are a tease. Did you use the battery grip much and how did you find it? What was the battery life like using both normal batteries and the grip?
Guest JohnA Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Steve the battery grip would be the best thing i bought for this camera. Forget battery life, just the extra balance it adds to the camera and the fact that shooting on the side is so much easier is well worth it. From the day i bought the battery grib it has never come off the camera. As for battery life, well using 2 batteries i have gone through 4 gigs worth fo photo's without having to change batteries. Having 4 batteries though like in this package, i doubt you will ever run out of battery life in a whole days shooting
Guest JohnA Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 this sale is on hold for the moment till i work out which way to go I was going to go with the new canon 40d but looks like i may jump ship and go the new nikon d300. If this is the case then i will also add some more lenses and a canon 580 flash unit to this sale.
mondie Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 John, Very keen on the 580 flash if you decide to move to the dark side. Cheers
Guest JohnA Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 noted mate other things that will be up for sale if this is the case are as follows Tokina 12-24 f4 wide lens Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 lens Canon 50mm f1.8 lens along with everything else that currently up for sale. Very few products have this nowdays. It would be best to check with Nikon Australia to be sure on their position on warranty for o/s purchases. Given the eBay trade - I doubt it. Best JA
Keith_W Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 JohnA I think it is November worldwide. I read about that in an American photography forum. It wouldn't surprise me ... that is Nikon's habit after all. Announce a camera, and it becomes available in volume 4-6 months later.
