Thoroughly enjoying my new fixation, Feral Brewing's Hop Hog Pale Ale.

Love the honest earthy hop taste of this one @ 5.8%.

Continuing a love affair with all things IPA. Was over in South Oz a week ago and sunk a fair few newies and some old favs.

Prick of a day working with a plumber you wouldn't feed if he was begging, gives the trade it's useless and bad image.

So straight into the secret stash of super high alcohol IPA's which is where I think they really really come into their own, 5% being mid range really(Daz yer there at 5.8 bud:thumb:).

My go to beer if the days been a dogs breakfast.

and...lordy lordy lordy! I'm a convert to the new range aluminium cans available these days. Bugger stubbies, gimme these anyday.

My absolute go to beer IPA is from WA and it's can is the bees knees.

Takes a moment to get used too but once your onboard you'll savour the nose from that can and the enjoyment of an ice cold can that's like a glass to drink from, the nose is wonderful from this beer and this can.[Colonial Brewing Co WA,6% something)

The Pirate Life IPA is fantastic so I do need to try this 'IIPA' malarkey out, for sure. An excellent brewery.

Covering some serious km's over this third rock from the sun lately Lee, great to hear, it isn't a rehearsal.

@Darren69 Month an a bit an I'll be posting from the Orkneys and Hebrides and if the gods align...the Faroes. I'm expecting some arguments about why I'm not chasing down single malts but I'll be chasing down beer basically in all it's glorious permutations.

*That 500ml IIPA will sit you on your arse real quick, approach with caution.

There's a 14.5% IPA limited release I tried on...[yes] TAP!!

One kilderkin release and we drank it dry basically and an in-law's 60th while in the Adelaide Hills.

Most people were ill the next day and they had been warned that this was like a high alcohol Cab Sav but in beer mode...

**Can't imagine having a session or experience like this again to be honest.

Caddis, a bit green? Have never experienced that from Feral but sometimes from others and quite a lot from Murrays.

Lee- fantastic!!

Yes, the shall we say, stronger ales- a few weeks back for reasons unbeknown to anyone I decided to really hit the Coopers Best Extra Stout like it was 4% lager. Long story short, when the backlog of alcohol in my liver finally broke upon the rest of my body, I almost ended up crying like a baby in the foetal position in the shower base. Builds character they say.

Still didn't feel too bad the next day, apart from the grog guilt. :D

Trivial pursuit question - Can you fit a golf ball into a Colonial wide mouth can?

Speaking of Pirate Life, in 2015 I had the good fortune of being invited to the brewery to help brew the collaboration beer with the Hilltop Hoods, as I'm in the same circle of friends.

I arrived with my friend half an hour early by mistake, and we were just standing in the brewery a bit awkwardly when Jack the brewer said to us 'you fellas want a beer?' And he walked over to the canning line and pulled off two cans of IIPA and handed them to us. They had only been canned about 4 seconds before. Easily and obviously, the freshest beer I've ever had.

We started to brew the beer and as I am a home brewer I was peppering the brewers a million questions a minute which they answered all graciously.

They then fed us lunch with the biggest steak I think I have ever had, from their smoker.

At the end of the arvo we jumped in a cab and Michael, one of the directors and also Jack the brewer's dad, chucked two cartons of IIPA in the boot. One 4 pack costs $40 or more, so that's a lot of beer!!

The beer that we brewed is called Golden Era Records Golden Ale. It's in a black can. It has been tweaked a little since the first batch, it's a good beer. But the IIPA is definitely my favourite. It's as close to a perfectly crafted beer you'll ever find.

Oh and if you're wondering, I asked Red the other brewer 'why did you put the strongest beer in the biggest can?' And he replied, 'so you can come home from work and its enough beer to just have one, or there's enough in the can to share with a friend'. Pretty damn good sense really.

Another from Mornington Peninsula Brewery, this time the Brown Ale -- Quite nice..lovely colour. If you like your dark ales this is a nice interpretation on the classic English style..
