Darren69 Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I find the Coopers PA quite 'filling' for some reason. I go off it after a few, for reasons unbeknown to me. Same as Fat Yak. @@Pieface what is a beer that you would describe as 'full bodied'?
mikizee Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I find that Young's double chocolate a litle on the thin side. Needs a bit more body IMO to make it special. Still makes for a nice change up from time to time. Just working over a couple of Coopers Pales. Still a good session beer but has lost a little something from the days I remember when it was 4.9%. Temperature diving a bit this arvo. Think I will migrate to the hard stuff for the evening. Just a minor point but one I cannot help but make, being an amateur Coopers historian... their Pale Ale has always been 4.5%, since its launch in 1989.

Darren69 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Having one of these at the moment, on special at Dans. Nice and malty for a lager. Had a few Bridgeport IPA's before that and didn't find them too amazing, IPA-wise. If you find 6% + IPA's a bit strong, you might like them though, they are mild @ 5.5% and also mild, taste wise. Tony ray Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Downing some coopers red at the moment at a fast rate after chainsawing firewood all afternoon for our approaching winter blast there predicting 1
Soundscape Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 The Zywiec lager is just OK. Was that from a glass or the bottle? I find it can make all the difference.
ferchersan Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Was that from a glass or the bottle? I find it can make all the difference. Or a can? My local only has it in cans. I don't like drinking anything out of a can. For best results, served chilled in a glass. (I never remember to chill the glasses though!) Cheers, Leigh
Tony ray Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I don't like cans either but the father inlaw does. Much prefer glass. I am so posh 1
Darren69 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Was that from a glass or the bottle? I find it can make all the difference. From the bottle mate.
Soundscape Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Yeah, it would be a bit rough from the bottle, I find that from a glass it smooths the bitterness and releases the honeyed sweetness. The difference in the nose can be quite striking too. 2
Demondes Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Nice drop picked up a 4 pack tonight. Had one and moved on to the scotch. Good stuff from little creatures 1

JukKluk2 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 @@Darren69, I've been trying to find that Porter you were raving about recently at my local Dan's. The shelf has been bare for the past months. I collared one of the staff this afternoon who told me that the computer said that they had 31 bottles on hand. That is what I was told a month ago. She checked and confirmed that they had none. Hopefully she will do as she said that she would and amend the stock on hand figure to zero so that the automated ordering system will order some in. I'll go back to see if they have any next week. I'm sure that it's lovely stuff but I want to see if my Mrs can cope with it. 1
Darren69 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 @@JukKluk2 I suggest putting the jammies on before starting.
Tony ray Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Maybe he is going to Dans in his jammies and scaring the staff
Darren69 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Possibly, though I imagine it would be the nightcap more than the Mr Men flannies.
ferchersan Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) Lowenbrau Original. Straight from the bottle, not poured into a chilled glass. Does that make it Lowbrau? Cheers, Leigh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited July 11, 2015 by ferchersan 2
Darren69 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 had a nice few Kiwi Bombers from the Stoke stable (MCashin brewery) out of a tallie.
Jone5y Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 What'd ya think? I had some recently and wasn't impressed. To be fair, it was my first drink after having had the "Return of the Dread" so i was probably comparing it more to that than judging it on its merits. 1
JukKluk2 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Maybe he is going to Dans in his jammies and scaring the staff I only wear a T-shirt to bed. That could explain a lot. 1
custodian Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 A couple of Rochefort 10 with dinner. Very good beer although not sure I could manage another. Maybe I'd better try 1

I like them, they are a mild taste but yes, good stuff IMO. I cant find return Of The Dread at Dans.
Jone5y Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I've not looked for it there, got it from the local on a whim and haven't seen it there in weeks either. Having a nice cabernet for a change now
