Just finished washing the 76 bottles I'm going to need to bottle my first brew for about 2 years. A lighter (in colour) version of my standard brew based on West Coast and Work Horse yeasts. Seems to be tasting OK from the extracts to measure gravity of the wort, so Im hoping for good things.

Had a taste last night. Characteristics between an Imperial IPA and an American barleywine. But as it's only been in the bottle a couple of weeks, it hasn't had a chance to develop carbonation properly, and the elements are not totally integrated (the hops flavour sort of feels a little added on at this stage and the maltiness hasn't been counter-balanced by the CO2 yet). Have high hopes for this by Christmas time.

Am loving Guinness's Extra Stout at the moment.

How could one not?

Meanwhile, my wife organized for another brew, 150 bottles of Honey Sting beer, plus some 50 apple/raspberry cider as well. Good times ahead!

Found memories of discovering this beer at an Aukland pub after my wife's navigation skills had us take a 2 hour detour coming back from up north in the camper van. Overtook a brand new V8 commodore doing about 140 down an empty country road my wife insisted was the main hwy. thought the poor diesel was going to jump thru the floor

Toffee/lightly burnt caramel notes. It's almost like a liquid 70% dark chocolate in a bottle with nice subtle bitterness

@@blybo it is very nice, you might also like the Black Beer, not quite as sweet but very good.

Is it a stout? Not usually a fan unless well into a session, like the Coopers SNA dinner [emoji482][emoji482][emoji482]

Liked it so much had to grab a six pack on the way home from Purvis Cellars in Surrey Hills (Melbourne). Great beer and wine specialist which used to be my local.

Bubbly, fresh,light and ...clean.@Darren69  Daz.

None of the above matches 'sewer' work. Dark beer do though...so I avoided them today

I keep the darker beers for good days, clean days.

*I do have a back up just in case though...

Pending further sewer toiling, you may also enjoy the Lord Nelson dark ale. Oh yeah.

I had a few White Rabbit Dark Ales last weekend and thought they tasted a bit insipid compared to what I remembered.

Unless it was just the mood.

Strange.
