zephyr11 Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Hi there, just to update i DID end up getting a pair of AC Leisure2 MKII, really like them, using them thru a cheap class D amp, Topping TP32EX+, supposedly able to handle 75w at 8ohms, but i feel it's not. would like to know if anyone has tried and decent class d amp with dac (integrated would be best to save space), looking at max $1k, i know it's very little compared to what most of you guys spend on an amp, but i'm using these technically as computer speakers. any thoughts/ recommendations would be appreciated. was looking and found the SVS Wireless Soundbase to be something to look at. thank you!
benlzy Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Maybe you can consider a used Nuprime IDA 8 or a PS Audio Sprout?
zephyr11 Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 ^^^^^^^^^^^^ thanks for the recommendations, i have been reading and quite interested to seek some opinions for the 2 amps below. Audiolab 6000A alot of good reviews about this, and seems to be class leading. (keen to learn more about this, class ab is something i've been interested in but felt too expensive to get into). NAD C328 seems like a good fit, quite a few good reviews. both accept digital input (albeit i have to use TOSlink cos my motherboard has one, but no coaxial), with dac built in. rated at 50w but seem to offer alot more. size fits my requirements. Thoughts? not in a hurry to get them, the 2 that you've suggested looks good, but don't seem to pop up used (might be a good thing). IDA 8 is quite over budget (brand new), but the sprout might work, i searched and there seems to be no local dealer for them closest seems to be music link, at shaw center (stocks some of PS Audio products). would the IDA 6 be a good fit? it still produces 60w.
benlzy Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Can't help you with the nad/audiolab as I've not heard them before, though those names did come up on my search in the past when I was looking for a budget option for my AC, so you may be going down the same path as me ;D I have a friend who has the IDA-8 and I've had it at my place for awhile as well, and it's pretty good for the asking price (almost like a Job Integrated, which is technically a Goldmund alrdy). Not sure about the 6 though! Alternatively, you can also consider separates like going for an ifi zen dac, and another integrated amp?
zephyr11 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 ^^^^^^^^ Hahaha, funny that you mention i'm researching what you did before. ;) might i ask what did you end up with? i was at rochor so went to try the 6000A, only listened to it for 5min, but half the time had goodbumps. maybe i noob, never hear good stuff before, but it was quite good, can hear everything quite clearly. i could almost see everything in front of me. will go try the C328, tmrw, and also look up the Sprout, since they are in the same building.
benlzy Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I ended up pairing the AC with a Job Integrated, which I used for 2 years+. Very similar to the IDA-8, but Job is no longer in production. Currently I am using a Kinki Studio dac and amp for slightly over a year, and I don't see myself changing them in the foreseeable future. However, I'm not using AC anymore, but they still hold a place in my heart :)
zephyr11 Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 thanks for sharing. i went to shaw center today intending to try the C328, went down, they are having a moving out sale, *alarm bells*, went in saw the poison, tested quite decent, though they sounded a tad weak with floorstanders, demo set on sale, couldn't NOT get it, as i think it's quite a good deal. so here i am with a new amp enjoying my music, whilst typing this. thank you for your recommendations, but sadly didn't get to test the Sprout or the IDA-8, i'm sure they would have been magnificent, but this will suffice, for now...
