I suppose next time she has a go at you when she cuts and styles her hair and you have not noticed it you can reveal the new beast and let her know she does it to. 1 1

If you are serious about room correction and advanced streaming, you will want to be glued to this livestream announcement. There will be time to ask questions as well. This is something I have made a reminder on my phone not to miss. Love it when Phil and Gene get together. I am going to enjoy my cup of coffee watching and listening to what goodness these two guys are bringing to the table. However no prizes for guessing. 1

betty boop Posted December 9, 2023 Author Posted December 9, 2023 interesting comment from bassadict on avs.. i guess the av10 is one processor that can run both audyssey and dirac to explore this kind of thing for self to decide which you prefer .... Having now used both extensively; I personally prefer Aud X to Dirac (for the aforementioned reasons). Aud X gives more control over individual drivers (more specifically subs), and provides more options for tweaking of FR. I hate the fact that DLBC locks subs down to groups, which actually makes integrating different subs tougher due to Dirac filtering on the average. I would spend the $200 and play around with Aud X. I think you'll really like it.

I think you'll really like it. I have read the same from other members on OS forums. There is a consensus that Audyssey is a more "in your face " type sound whilst they say Dirac tends to tame and refine the dynamic sounds. I'm an "in your face" type of guy. However being able to switch between the two with the AV10 is going to be interesting. I recently bought the Aud.X on black Friday sale for my AV10. I haven't used it as yet but will once I get a breather from my so called "retirement life style". I have more things on now I am fully retired than when working full time. I will also be buying the full Dirac suite and make a comparison to which sounds best to my ears. I still have Audyssey pro kit so have the "good mic" to use for the calibration. I have already bought the Umik mic in anticipation. Edited December 9, 2023 by CCRider 1

Does anyone know when the promo will expire? I don't, but I used the paypal 4 equal payments to lessen the load. My CC is close to max'ed out with Christmas purchases and payment is due in a few days, so at least the remaining 3 payments will go over 2 months for me. I bought the license for the 50 with 30% off. The 4 payments work out at about $120 each. Not cheap but I've heard very good things about DLBC. I'm planning on keeping my current set up for a long time, so I don't mind the cost, even though probably hard to justify. You'd think with significantly cheaper prices they would get a much higher sign up rate and still end up in front.
RCADees Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 12 minutes ago, blybo said: My CC is close to max'ed out with Christmas purchases and payment is due in a few days, Thanks Neil, yes it is a lot of money for this time of the year! Hard to justify right now. I have to say that the jump I've experienced from my old Yamaha RX-A1040 to this Marantz Cinema 40 has been phenomenal and I've only had this for one week. It really was worth the stretch and to pay more for such quality machine! This really is a massive step up for my set up and I have been blown away by how big the change has been. We watched Gladiator on blu ray a few days ago and for the first time I am getting a phantom image on the sides, in between the Front LR and the surrounds LR in my 5.1 set up. It is absolutely amazing. The level of detail is also so good and the room really feels now like in surround. Sounds are everywhere. The weight of the drums in the soundtrack and Spanish guitar.... Wow. The centre channel is so much cleaner than before. And the headroom, wow, that machine can keep on going without a sweat. My old Yamaha felt like it was lacking power, lots of it. Although the Centre speaker is the same brand as FLR, it always sounded like it had a different timbre. But not anymore. A few months ago I moved the sub and I always felt it was never the same for some reason despite the fact that I did try a few things. It never sounded as powerful and somehow ok but disappointing. Once again all of that is gone and once again all I have to say is WOW. Can't wait to begin installing Atmos speakers at some point And I have only done the standard Audyssey calibration out of the box, nothing more yet. The future looks fun. 1 1

Snoopy8 Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 The 30% discount offer is advertised in the Dirac Shop and applies to Denon products as well. And good to see a saving with bundling. Looking forward to hearing DLBC experience from all of you. And a back to back compare with Audyssey. 2
SGS Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 (edited) Have had an SR6014 for a while now, I added an M25 to power 7 channels and the Marantz powers the 4 heights. Was reading the other day that it doesn't disconnect the amp circuits even when using the pre outs which can affect the output once it reaches the internal amps maximum. 9 channels probably result in 60 watts per channel or there about. I did disconnect the fronts as only 9 amps and running 11 channels. Asking as when I push the volume it doesn't seem to incrementally increase output, though I may be imagining that. Lastly, do the cinema range allow for disconnect when using pre outs on some channels? Edited December 15, 2023 by SGS

You will be surprised how good many of the action films in your collection will sound. I noticed a very significant improvement going from the 8805 to the AV10. The huge improvement in the dynamics and soundstage were something that I was so impressed with. Also clarity of speech and bass management. Not as much when I went from the AV8801 to 8805. TBH very little despite the hype on AVSFORUM. 1
RCADees Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 15 hours ago, SGS said: do the cinema range allow for disconnect when using pre outs on some channels? Hi SGS, In the original training video (2020 Marantz SR Series YouTube) they do state that the 2020 SR series is able to disconnect amps not used. I can't confirm if this is only for the higher models at the time or not. There are three videos but I can't remember which part talks about this. 2020 Marantz SR Series - Part 1 The Marantz Difference For other users, I can definitely confirm that my Cinema 40 definitely disconnects the amps. When selecting to only use the Pre-Amp for the front Left/Right you can hear the relays turning off. At the moment I am only running the Centre and LR surrounds with the Cinema 40 so I can't really comment on if I can hear the difference. Make sure you select the "Pre-out Only" option in the Speakers set up as below. The advantage of doing this is obviously releasing power for the other speakers, but the way Marantz have done it for the Cinema series is that the HDAMs processing will still go through the Pre-Amp outs properly as it should and feed your power amp. I can confirm that this is what I experienced with the FRL as the detail, texture, and entire presentation dramatically changed from my old AVR. So it is not just gimmicks. It is fabulous. You can see in the diagram that the signal from the HDAMs continues to the pre outs. 1

Is the mic necessary for this too or the app is enough for now? Thanks

Thanks Hi RCA don’t need the Amazon mic that’s for audyssey X which is replacement for the old audyssey pro. the app works with mic that came with the AVR. Just lets you do things like taking off mid range compensation which want to do to remove the bbc dip that audyssey does by default. It’s all really easy to use. Don’t want mid range compensation ? Untick can also store multiple calibrations that can select and such 1
