Well one thing for sure Neil is you are a very happy man after your Pies won the flag this year.🙂

Do you find the 45 degree walls improve the room acoustics as apposed to

standard rectangular or square shaped rooms?

I have the Sony 83A90J OLED as well as the JVC N7.

The Sony is in my lounge room as a standalone unit whilst my upstairs theatre room is put together.

My HT is in our large Family room.

I must say the PQ on the big 83" is absolutely breathtaking.

I stream Prime Video on it. I have a spare 4k Pana 820 BRP which I am going to hook up for hard media.

Let me take this opportunity to wish you and your family a happy Xmas.

Merry Christmas to you too. I have our ham in the oven now. One of our little traditions is close family come around early to watch the young'ens open presents and we have fresh ham and cheese croissants for breakfast.

Love the JVC projectors, I had a X7000 in the last place but sold the entire batcave HT set up with the house. Wanted more of a multi function room this time and using it much more. Still have a 55" in the living room with Kef LS50w and we are watching carols on that. I had a 820 in the last place but the lack of front buttons did my head in in low light conditions. The 9000 is certainly a big step up and streaming 4k from Netflix, Prime or Disney seems like FTA TV compared to the 4k discs.

And yes hoping for some Pies memorabilia under the tree tomorrow. Can't wait the new season to start.

With the system finally back upto dual subs, kicked the cats out the room and did a first time audyssey calibration for dual subs since i got my new Focal Sopra 3 mains back in september... Really quite impressed how simple, easy and quick this was with audyssey through the app.

IMG_0983.thumb.jpeg.fa927704a63a2e3e3be8f01fc539f308.jpeg

running through my usual test discs after super impressed how well it integrated in the twin subs in with the mains and rest of the system. The subs not calling attention to themselves, but well blended so seamless and really pumping !

I was finishing up testing with Mr and Mrs smith, wife wandered by and wanted to watch that as not seen the movie in a while. While an old favourite, this is the  first time experienced this on the AV10. Even though a blu-ray and upmixing with DTS-neural X it sounds pretty amazing ! the very atmospheric dance scene with the thunder and rain at the start. the scene at the carnival with the zing of air rifle pellets fly around...the low bass and the hard hitting and thunderous sounds in some of the scenes. Very enjoyable movie. All the more enjoyable with the AV10 to point wanting me to start re visiting some old favourites again given the new lease of life this marantz processor seems to deliver 🙂

Seems like Christmas is really here for you Al!! Sounds great.

Perfect timing to enjoy this glorious coldish weather during these holidays.

I have been playing with the Audyssey app but still learning by watching YouTube videos etc.

Did calibration with the app.

Interesting that Audyssey left the LCR and SR SL at 60hz, was thinking to change setting to 80hz. Should I also change the SR/SL to even 100hz? They are the Krix IW50.

As per your advice I removed the mid range compensation. Yes the mids sounded a bit too much I think, but will keep testing.

Watched Equalizer 2 a couple of days ago and I think I still need to fiddle a bit with the sub, but not much and overall I think I really like the Audyssey EQ so I left that on.

The rest is very impressive, so very happy with set up. Big step up for me.

Enjoy your weekend 🙂

I can relate exactly as to  what you are experiencing with the AV10 re the neuralx up mixer with your "old" blu ray movies.  We watched Ice Age with my grandson the other day and the sounds of the iceberg cracking in the opening scene as well as the thud of the Mammoth's footsteps caused my grandson to literally jump out of his seat.

I keep saying it. This is by far the best AVP I have ever owned hands down.

It's a quantum leap in sound dynamics compared to the 8805.

Thank you RD, it definitely feels like that. Was not feeling great at one point just before christmas with projector screen out of action and one sub down... bit of an incomplete system !  but am glad all that has been sorted and things have come together. Especially for the christmas break 🙂

Great to hear, there is a recommendation to move everything to 80hz....goes way back.. but i have found in practice it can leave the front end a bit weedy ... so in my system for instance centre i do leave at 60hz and mains i actually run full range.. which i think benefits for music  and gives a nice full front stage... many folks likely disagree..but just something i have found in own experience to benefit.... the no 1 rule with audyssey is you can cut back the range .. ie if calibration shows 60hz you can pull back further to 80hz but should never extend out. ie if calibration said 80hz should never set to lower eg at 60hz. With the SR/SL Krix IW50 what did they calibrate too ? can use that as a guid. if they came up as 80hz would leave there. 100hz can be a tad high.. so unless speakers come up with measurement at 100hz .. i wouldn't raise the cross over that high as may not be supported that well with a sub. not many subs can run that high up and that well...

the mid range compensation is a good one to remove as it applies a bbc dip otherwise to the mid range. theres also will see choice of top end roll off (standard audyssey) or not... i tend to leave the standard audyssey setting for that.. otherwise can end up a bit shrill on the top end..

ah excellent ! i should watch the equaliser movies again 🙂 not sure if seen it ... would recommend highly mr and mrs smith. so impressed with it... theres so much subtle details and fantastic sound steering and wow the dynamics ! theres a fight scene (well theres many) but this one is really good in the kitchen when a chopper gets flung. gosh the bass on that imbedding it self in the wall :D so many good scenes 🙂 enjoy the weekend too !

the marantz av10 is sounding amazingly good CC. definitely a quantum leap up from anything else have had processor wise 🙂

That seems a very high crossover. Dirac wanted to crossover my IC50’s at 60, but I’ve moved every channel to 80 for now. Will do more fiddling when home from camping.

Our house sitters are loving the av system though 😜

Hi BB, thanks for the advice. The IW50 Audyssey measured them at 60hz, so all of the 5.1 set up (expect sub of course) was set at 60hz. I thought this is why I was thinking to dial at least those two (SR/SL) to 80hz.

And thanks for the recommendation on Mr and Mrs Smith, that sounds lots of fun. I think I only watched it once when it came out so that is a long time go.

Thanks Neil, yes I reckon I will be moving the to 80hz.

This may have been covered, I may have already asked, if so, forgive me.

Why do I get no sound from my TT or other sources when my TV is turned off (eARC connection to SR6015)? Is this a side issue of eARC? If so, it's a PITA.

My TT is running through a ClearAudio phono stage via the BluRay line level input.

Anyone? This is a serious PITA for me.

With the amazing Marantz Cinema series line up so far, this would be very interesting indeed!

Probably announce it in Barcelona at ISE :).

I wonder if they will release an AV 20 and AMP 20. The Cinema 30 price seems a bit steep.

It has 11 amps c.f. 9 in the 40, but same maximum power, same weight.  $2,900 for 2 more amps ???

Generally not the case, always tends to be step up in power supplies, dac and analog stages 🙂 , pre stage even quality of amp stages tends to go up …

this is case with denon too … and going way back …

I suspect Digital Cinema were naughty in making the page up?  11 amps is likely, but they must have copied and pasted the other details from the 40.

Like you, I am expecting top shelf specs.

I have my doubts because the tendency is to have only 1 pre-pro...

That is more like it with 2 additional amplification channels and a boost in the power.

Shame on Digital Cinema for copying and pasting the 40 web pages and pretending that it was the 30 with 11 channels. (And not yet updated!). 👎

That Digital Cinema site probably had it all almost ready to go with the price only but I imagine that either they did not know anything else so they were just making it up as they went, or there would have been an embargo on the release.

The Cinema 30 definitely fills the gap for less money than the Cinema 10, more power more refinement and Class A/B topology but it is a lot of money nevertheless.

I am very happy with my Cinema 40 and I doubt that I will ever be using all of the amplification anyway.

Great line up to choose from.

Marantz are really kicking some goals with these AVRs.

The Cinema 40 was on my short list until I could not resist the Arcam AVR30!  Agree, Marantz are certainly kicking goals, more so now that they have the option of Dirac Live.

Good pickup on more precessing channels.

They all have HDAM, but not sure why the HDAM SA-2 is mentioned in the Cinema 30, not in 40 nor AV10?
