desray Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Just trying my luck out today and check the firmware update via network update! And guess what, a new firmware found...I forget to take a closer look at the whole file name but it showed something like 1212XXX_XSS...Can't confirm now as my set is doing the updating. Hopefully this is the better version for the Asian model. Our model follows the Korean set though.
Doggie Howser Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Damn.. need to go hook up my LAN connection to this thing. ps does anyone know where to find the MAC address info for the Samsung? I can't get my MAC filtering to work cos I believe my router needs both my Bridge and the unit's LAN MAC addresses to be included in the filtering list.
desray Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 Ok...just completed phase 1 - now performing the actual setup sequence...it takes about 15mins to complete the whole donwnloading...

There's no need any special custom settings...just ensure you're using DHCP and enable DNS to auto will do. EDIT: so you are using MAC Filtering...then too bad, you need to find the MAC ADDRESS OF BD-P1400 liaoz...or else make it simple lar...DISABLE MAC FILTERING for the time being to get connected.
Phil1624705739 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Pls report on 1080p24 playback and DH4 playback. Phil
mikeang88 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Hi, aside from the bugs-fix, is there any further enhancement? Thanks
desray Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 Pls report on 1080p24 playback and DH4 playback. Phil Sure thing...just completed the whole firmware update process...took about less than 1/2 hr or so on Network Update. Not very long IMO.
desray Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 The new firmware s/w info: 071212.01_XSS Last firmware revision is 071113.01_XAA (for US and Canada owners). So I believe this may be the LATEST version to date!

Doggie Howser Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Okay...up to the minute update here. I hereby pronounce that my DIE HARD 4.0 BLU-RAY disc PLAYED FINE on BD-P1400. Wait for my observation on the implementation of 1080p/24... Does HD80 report framerate? Ie is it 1080p60 1080p24 and does it give the refresh rate? The HD1 shows: - 48Hz for my Sammy 1400 (also on XA2 on older 2.5 firmware) - 47.96Hz for the XA2 (with 2.7 firmware) and PS3 (1.9x) - 48Hz for the TVIX in 1080p24 mode
desray Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 And thank goodness! Samsung finally get the CORRECT 1080p/24fps RIGHT this time!!! Now no more 'judder' at frequent intervals...and DTS-HD MSTR played w/o any audio loss from time to time! This is about the BEST BLU-RAY Player at the moment! Thank you Samsung! Way to go...!!!

desray Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 Funny thing is not even SAMSUNG US website has release this latest firmware to the public yet...the AVS forum guys haven't mention anything about it prior to this discovery.
wwyjoe Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 i'm tempted! Does anyone know if: How does the 1400 compare to the PS3 in audio, sound, and bootup times? Can the 1400 output Dolby TruHD, DTS-MA in bitstream over HDMI? Any BR disc compatibility issues, especially the newer titles? Thanks!!
zapp1624705742 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 and most impt...HOW MUCH? i think the guys here got a good deal at SITEX which i missed out :p
Audio Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Funny thing is not even SAMSUNG US website has release this latest firmware to the public yet...the AVS forum guys haven't mention anything about it prior to this discovery. ....simply because the "Ang Mo"s don't have people like Jeff Ong and the extremeplace folks (you included) who definitely have passion and took great pain to complain about the Die Hard 4.0 issue. Who in AVS forum took pictures to prove / share that this Samsung Player can play Lossless bitstream audio? None...and yet, when the day everyone picked up their sets, this forums had been flooded with pictures..... Your voice is LOUD and had been heard by Samsung!! (Audio)
FookLai Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 This is a huge boost for people waiting the 5000 Combo player. If the rumors which said a firmware release in end Jan or Feb is true and it solve the playability issues plus output bitstream then it will be super nice! Fook Lai
redders Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 POTC At World's End is another disc should be tested. It shared similar playable issue with DH4.0

Although they did reply me but its a standard 'cover-my-arse' type of professional response. Hahaha...
