Hi everyone!

I've just received a set of the Audio Definition Duet from my dad, but sadly the tweaters are not working anymore.  I've got someone help me replace them, but we can't find any technical information as I'd like to get the speakers sounding as close to the original as possible.  They're still in fantastic condition otherwise.

Greetings Stu,

I thought by now those in the know might have come up with an answer for you, unfortunately I am not one of those. If you have them out of the box it would be worth taking some photos of them , front and back. Usually they will have some type of markings on them.

Also may be worth posting in the normal speaker section which probably attracts more views .

Hopefully an answer will be forthcoming so you can live up to your moniker, Lucky Stu.

Cheers

Hello all,

Just letting this group know I have picket up a set of Silhouettes s/n 015 in Melbourne. They were one owner and originally purchased at (now gone) George Secher Audio in the late 80's. I think I remember looking at them when I was in my earlu 20's but the price was well out of my range back then. I did get in contact with Lia from this forum who was most helpful with information about these speakers and welcomed me to the Ausdio Definition family. Why did I choose these? Moving house and deciding to ditch my 7 channel setup (because I prefer music) I wanted an excellent set of stereo speakers to compliment my home built centre speaker (based on d'appoloito HT kit design supplied by ME Sound)...so 3 channel for TV and stereo for listening. I've complimented the Silhouettes with a sunfire atmos sub to cover the lowest of the range and set up a wide listening space. What really attracted me was Aussie made and pretty much bespoke compared to the mass produced options out there. They are tall and you have to keep away kids (from pushing them over) and cats (who love a scratching pole) but worth it for the imaging. Lia was able to advise mine were early models with vifa drivers and the latter ones were upgraded to Seas and scan speak. Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob,

I was scrolling through and saw you mentioned George Secher,I purchased a Benchmark Amplifier

from him,made in Melbourne.

I was passionate about buying Australian made audio,it still sounds wonderful.

Do you mind if I ask where you picked up the Silhouette speakers?I have been trying to find a

pair myself.

Cheers

Paul

Since this thread was bumped ... I found some very old photos of my Audio Definition system:

LP: Sota Sapphire / Sumiko FT4 tonearm / Sumiko Blue Point Special cartridge

CDP: Marantz CD-52 Mk. 2

Amp: Pioneer A-400

Speakers: Audio Definition Signature
Equipment stand and rug: from Ikea

I put together this system in 1993, and it served me for 12 years until I replaced them in 2005. I don't upgrade my speakers very much. I tend to choose my speakers and enjoy them for many years.

I hope Lia is still around. These speakers are somewhere in Melbourne. I would love to be able to hear them again. In fact I would love to hear an Audio Definition again.
