Doggie Howser Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Saw got an MO going on and not trying to jeapordize the deal or anything, but just got a call from Gramaphone saying the two disks are in and I can go and collect it right now! :) Is there a difference from the MO version and the local release? Cos there is no mention of the source for the MO one.
Doggie Howser Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 49.90 but available now. As opposed to Mar 25th (in MO?)
Guest francis woo Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 49.90 but available now. As opposed to Mar 25th (in MO?) For 2 discs...hey that's pretty cheap............. ;D
tertm141 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 i saw them at oub centre gramaphone 3rd level raffles place. I saw the back details, for red cliff 2 is BD-50, but the audio is Mandarin 2.0, dolby 2.0. There is no indication of DTS-master, PCM, dolby true HD as compare to hk version, there is malay subtitles somemore.. Any 1 bought this can confirm the audio? http://www.dddhouse.com/v3/product_details.php?ProductID=9482

lobster1624705763 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Still awaiting comments/reviews on Red Cliff 2 blu-ray. For Red Cliff 1, at present think only 2 versions worth considering: 1. Hong Kong version but there is a logo appears from time to time. 2. Taiwan version, no logo but different aspect ratio. Both versions offer 3 HD audio tracks. I own the Taiwan version. If without any HD audio tracks, dont think is worth it... my 2 cents. Cheers,
Doggie Howser Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 If it is BluRay and has no HD audio, then I am GOING TO SWEAR OFF ALL LOCAL DISTRIBUTIONS FOR GOOD!!! It was bad enough we had DD2.0 or DD mono crappola DVDs, but Blu-freaking-Rays!!??? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME
tertm141 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 would appreciate some 1 buys it n post here the audio experience. haha
desray Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 BD-50 and yet no DTS-HD MSTR or Dolby TrueHD...then I wonder what kind of content is inside this local BD? LoL...
DanDon Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 If it is BluRay and has no HD audio, then I am GOING TO SWEAR OFF ALL LOCAL DISTRIBUTIONS FOR GOOD!!! It was bad enough we had DD2.0 or DD mono crappola DVDs, but Blu-freaking-Rays!!??? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME I saw them in EZ Video and pressed by Scorpio East and no hd audio except in DD 5.1 and DD 2.0 in Mandarin. I shook my head. I have been avoiding local distributors like plague.
Doggie Howser Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 It's up on their website... http://www.scorpioeast.com.sg/products/search.asp?textfield=red+cliff+%26+red+cliff+2 Specs are about as useful as a cold bucket of spit What on earth ARE THEY THINKING??
game_goondu Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 its obvious that there is a market out there... else scorpio east will not come up with such cripped blu-ray... can safely say that 99% of the ppl out there is fine with DD5.1... less than 1% is really concern about hd audio... they do not need fancy HD audio... most probably they do not have a decoder/receiver to decode hd audio... and not surprising if they hookup their bluray with the yellow composite cable...
Doggie Howser Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 That's just silly. I can imagine if you do that with a DVD player (Composite and mono audio connection), cos these are commodity devices. But to pay a premium for a BluRay player AND a BluRay disc and not understand why there is a premium? I don't buy that! And if Scorpio East thinks that, they deserve to lose their pants. In this economic climate, I don't fancy their chances if that's REALLY what goes on in their heads.
Gaolow Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 my source of MO is from dddhouse, so is HK version. 8) anyway, I never brought any DVDs that produce from scorpio east, cause to me, their quality is worest and they dare to price it so expensive in term of the quality that provide. But they are still people don't know about it, especially if they compare the price of those region A or code 1 from US that sell at local shops, the price of scorpio east seem rather cheap for them. So people still buy from them and hence their sale is still on going!!!
tertm141 Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 saw red cliff 1 n 2 at laserflair today, same as before, mandarin 5.1 n dolby 2.0 from scorpioeast.. same price as gramophone.
Norman_Chan Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 So the DD 5.1 is the standard DD 5.1 as found in the dvd and not any of those HD Audio ....is this correct ?

Norman_Chan Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 For Blu-Ray disc ...is China same code as us ? Anyone know what price is the Blu-Ray movies disc selling in China ?
laialpha Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 For Blu-Ray disc ...is China same code as us ? Anyone know what price is the Blu-Ray movies disc selling in China ? China should be in Region C, so is different from Singapore.
yellowhandman Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 China should be in Region C, so is different from Singapore. However a lot of BRs are presently still region-free, even those from US (which is same region as Singapore anyway) or Europe. For example, I got Infernal Affairs trilogy from HK, and it was fine on my PS3. Unlike DVD, region-locking is not compulsory for BR.
