tertm141 Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Don't think anyone is willing to spend S$49.90 just to try...hehe. I may consider if it is $4.90.:P if only the shop sales person can play them in the shop, that would be solve every 1 guess.
cn9601 Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 IMHO, for that, I rather buy DVD. If you chk out HK BD spec, somehow I feel short-changed for 49.90 ;)
yellowhandman Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 if only the shop sales person can play them in the shop, that would be solve every 1 guess. I doubt the shop even has a Blu-ray player, let alone a 5.1 system...
tertm141 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 received red cliff 2 blu-ray from hk, its different front cover with the local copy, details behind indicated DTS-MA 7.1, LCPM 7.1 not DD5.1 or db 2.0. haha.
cn9601 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 how come u bros got it roedi? Mine is supposed to be 1-week pre-order and no sound, no shadow :o :'( :-\
tertm141 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 how come u bros got it roedi? Mine is supposed to be 1-week pre-order and no sound, no shadow :o :'( :-\ I got it as well today, shipped out last wk sunday. Thats the right copy u should received, its actually for my buyer, he will watch n then pass to me for viewing. Think the PQ n SQ should be quite good.
cn9601 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 finally, my son informs that I have a big parcel from HK. Guess it must be the weight that 'slow' down my pre-order ;D Well, maybe additional boxed Infernal Affairs & boxed Chinese Odyssey (Stephen Chow) have made the parcel HEAVIER to deliver early to me 8) So finally later will get to watch some arrows flying and shooting in Red Cliff 2 in LPCM 7.1、DTS HD-MA 7.1、Dolby Digital TrueHD 7.1 ;D
Norman_Chan Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Will HK local shop sell cheaper than the HK On-Line shop ?
Charcoal Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Will HK local shop sell cheaper than the HK On-Line shop ? most likely ..... , then plus shipment
DizzyD1624705734 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Will HK local shop sell cheaper than the HK On-Line shop ? You have to buy at Mongkok Nelson Street basement shops else HMV is much more expensive than online shops...Else pls go to where I told you in Shenzhen to buy.
cn9601 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 So far all HK version BDs, incl. Red Cliff 1 & 2, the PCM audio sounds clearer wif better 'staging' (depth & discrete) details ;D Switching to DTS-MR or DD-TrueHD somehow creates 1-2db softer and cancelling out 'audio-able' details, as I A-B bet PCM and these DTS/DD :-\ U bros oso have the same audio xperience ??? ::)
Norman_Chan Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 So far how much is RC1 and RC2 blu ray disc selling in HK .... are the below links RC 1 n RC 2 ....that you bought ? The audio does not has cantonese ...is this correct ? http://www.dddhouse.com/v3/product_details.php?ProductID=8860 http://www.dddhouse.com/v3/product_details.php?ProductID=9482

Do you remember the shop names of those reliable shops? I'm getting a friend to help me buy.
Guest francis woo Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Think I mentioned this in another post. Try Win Win shop along Tung Choi Street, a few shops away from Nelson basement which is slightly cheaper. If you are a regular buyer, you can get a discount too.........Cheers

Crazyfrites Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Would like to find out from the folks who own the HK version of Red Cliff 1 n 2 blu-ray - are the conversation in Cantonese or Mandarin or both? Thanks in advance. :)
cn9601 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Both my HK imported ones are: Mandarin : LPCM 7.1、DTS HD-MA 7.1、Dolby Digital TrueHD 7.1 Even if there's Cantonese, since it is China-made, I will think Mandarin dialogue will be more authentic 8)
yellowhandman Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Does anyone know what the original language of RED CLIFF is, i.e. what the actors were actually speaking? For example, for SO CLOSE, it is obviously Karen Mok's voice on both Mandarin and Cantonese soundtracks, but otherwise the Cantonese sounds authentic whereas the Mandarin sounds dubbed for all the other characters.

I think it is a mixture. Zhao Wei / Lin ChiLin confirm speaking mandarin. Tony Leung looks like speaking in cantonese as the "mouth shape" does not tally with the words at times.

The local versions have questionable quality. Does it mean I need to get it from China if I want a good Mandarin version?
cn9601 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Locally, it appears that there are 2 batches of Red Cliffs. The Scorpix batch is the controversial one. The later batch by Universe is the 'authentic' one. Why China? The Universe one is pretty true to Chinessy (China and Taiwanese) accent, except for those HK and Japs actors. I would have thought Tony Leung was speaking in Mandarin. Guess will have to play Red Cliffs again to verify 'lip-sync' ;D mayb you are referring to Ip Man, which has mixed dialogues in the glory of their native languages of Mandarin and Cantonese ;) I also do think that the Mandarin dialogue will give the movies more realism since it is depicting an historic event! ;D I am just wondering whether if there is a version where it include both dialogues in a single disc. Any idea where did you see the Universe version? I have seen the Scorpix version everywhere so I am unaware about the other version. ;D I am just wondering whether if there is a version where it include both dialogues in a single disc. Actually I am wondering if there is a version where I can select between the Cantonese or Mandarin dialogue. :)
BozQ Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I'm reading everywhere that Red Cliff was filmed and dubbed in Mandarin originally. Unless you really insist, you may have a really hard time finding a Cantonese version.
cn9601 Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 ::) ??? ure rite tat Scorpix Red Cliffs were littering evrywhere in Spore ard 1-mth ago. So far, last 2 weeks I have seen Universe (HK version) at Gramphone & Musichouse (or iszit MJ Music House). But be warned that I have also seen both Scorpix and Universe are shelved together, and I think at the same price >:( I have seen the Scorpix version everywhere so I am unaware about the other version. ;D
