Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza - Azioni (Die Schachtel 2CD + DVD)

Ideal companion to the War Of The End Of The World.

Wikipedia:

The collective was formed by Italian composer Franco Evangelisti in Rome in 1964. Drawing on Jazz, Serialism, Musique concrete, and other Avant-garde techniques developed by contemporary classical music composers such as Luigi Nono and Giacinto Scelsi, the group was dedicated to the development of new music techniques by improvisation, noise-techniques and anti-musical systems. The group members and frequent guests made use of extended techniques on traditional classical instruments, as well as Prepared piano, Tape music and Electronic music. During the 1970s the music continued to involve to embrace techniques and genres such as guitar feedback and Funk. In addition to concerts, the group issued a series of LP's, and also contributed to recording group member Ennio Morricone's score for Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura (1971). The group was disbanded after Evangelisti's death in 1980.

[edit]Members

I'm listening to the first set of an audience recording of The Necks playing the Sydney Opera House, March 18 2012

A couple of ways to describe the sensation of listening to The Necks playing live:

A dose of endorphins: "endo- and -orphin; are short forms of the words endogenous and morphine, intended to mean "a morphine-like substance originating from within the body" or slow-motion ecstasy, if you like. Sensations akin to practising Sufism, from what I gather.

Some of the freakiest noises that a pr of speakers will be asked to emit. One of my all-time fave reference albums, Tapper Zukie "Man Ah Warrior", on Trojan from1973.

Steve Lacy / Evan Parker - Chirps (FMP LP)

chirps.jpg

I had this on CD for a few years now. Just recently I got it on LP and while some more dynamic breaths wanted me to readjust my anti skate, the sound of two soprano saxophones is marvelous... I can't think of two other soprano saxophonist that would have such a strong emotional impact as these two guys... Their communication here is of telepathic quality. Demanding but extremely rewarding music.

Dengue Fever. "Cannibal Courtship"

Fits neatly into the now familiar 'Post B52s, Eurasion surf punk retroswamp/paddy rock' genre we all know and love.

features the immortal lines;

...water rushes over me,

Sand pours for eternity

Sun cooks skin extra crispy...

Something for all of us there I think.

time for a heart starter, Dingo.

Is Guest_Dingo_* still around?

Seeing there have been bands like Focus / Gracious mentioned, he might like to join the prog thread that was started recently. Lots of great music being recommended on there for anyone with a willing mind.

My weird filter bombs out on Primus and I can't tell as they seemed so ubiquitous in the 90's. Picked up their newbie the other day cause it was there on 45's. Still sounds like Primus. I'm a Pork Soda kinda guy and can't wait for that to reissued on the wax.

My first post in this thread, and it's an obvous one, Butthole Surfers s/t EP. Spinning this on delightfully urine coloured vinyl, blew my mind when I first heard it nearly 25 years ago, and continues to do so today

Plus one for Secret Cheifs saw them at the Corner hotel probably 10 years ago, a great mix of middle eastern heavy metal surf music.

Negative land are another great band but not for SQ mainly weird cut and paste.

And Painkiller Laswell,Zorn and Harris.MI0000370182.jpg?partner=allrovi.com

Duane Pitre - Feel Free (Important Records LP)

I checked Spotify for this artist and they only have the album “Origin†available.

Listening now and loving the transcendental nature of it.

Dory Previn and her iguanas must meet the weird criteria. Picked this up on vinyl recently, it pretty addictive.
