malsound Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 when speaker cabinets have the drivers and tweeters mounted in a tilted angled fashion, means they are time aligned design. correct me if i am wrong. oh, also play on the speed inside the crossover? It does always has to be on a slope to be time align, Duntech/Dunlavy design their drivers on different plane but firing straight on.
Hass Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 does the manufacturer states at what distance the drivers are time aligned to? Can you change this distance?
Guest AndrewC Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Whether MBL Radialstrahler and Vivid Giya are truly time-aligned designs or not, I think we cannot be sure. ...(Audio) Yes you can... at least for ones that have been measured by Stereophile - just take a look at the Impulse response graphs; non time-aligned speakers will have individual driver response separation - all 3 speakers mentioned in this thread have been measured. But like you said, whether (a) you can hear the difference, and (b) you actually care about it, is debatable. As they say, ignorance is bliss :)
jeromelang Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 time alignment is audible. once you hear it, difficult to "unhear" ;D but is is also possible that there are many people who had lived with time-aligned speakers over many years, yet have no clue what to listen for...
malsound Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Sometime I wonder what will happen when time align speakers meet time align cables like MIT and Transparent speaker cable will compliment each other or over compensate and become over align. ;D
Guest AndrewC Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Sometime I wonder what will happen when time align speakers meet time align cables like MIT and Transparent speaker cable will compliment each other or over compensate and become over align. ;D Over time-alignment = Time travel ;D ;D ;D

Audio Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 3M Commander tape. Stick it and let it rest for a while. Use long nose plier to pull out the dent with the tape stretched towards you. (Audio)
char siew pau Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Thanks Ohlins and Audio. I’ll try it soon. Youtube has one showing straw & plastic bag seal with tap on the woofer and suck out.
char siew pau Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Is the Thiel CS7.2 the one to get? After hearing the CS6 with Krell pre and power I kind of like the full range sound of the Thiel.
Doggie Howser Posted March 11, 2019 Author Posted March 11, 2019 Best full range is a CS3.7 with an SS2.2 with the smart sub integrator.
sje4182 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I wonder how much a 2.7 goes for today Sorry, late to reply. Late last year, Adelphi basement used audio dealer had a very nice pair at $5.5k, have not been back there since so not sure if still available. And recently saw a pair in carousell asking $6k IIRC.
