What's the reason and rationale behind that? Sorry I don't understand Cantonese.

A more full bodied sound and better immersion...

He also does his cal at 75 db and plays at 0....

Wow!!! Plays at reference?! If play at reference, then of course DEQ no need to engage.

At 1.37, he also shares a simple method for phase correction...

Play the video whilst you are ironing or doing something... it's quite educational..

He could be going deaf.

Nobody can play at Reference...even if his hearing not affected, I wouldn't want to be *his* neighbour...LoL.

Bro Pete, you sure he is not saying, calibrated at pink noise at 75db with Master Volume at '0'db and NOT literally playing at Reference level for actual content (be it music or movies)?! That is 2 different things altogether.

Watch the video during his demos... the volume OSD is shown..

Even the mike is shaking a bit...

Wow...that's really something :)

The video is pretty good, he goes through the various functions and features... very detailed..

I wish I was able to ask him some question.. I wonder if any local Denon rep can do the same..

In our dreams *maybe*...Anyone here knows any industry chaps (e.g. D&M technical product manager) au fait with D&M products here in Singapore? Pete, maybe you can ask your calibrator since she is also in the AV home stuff and might know someone here? Worth a shot?

Yup, unlikely. Even official Denon Singapore website has been shut down for some time.

The saddest part being a AV consumer here in Singapore is the fact that we can only learn the hard way...by ourselves...trial and error, reading up articles, AVSForum, post queries to Support side and eagerly awaits an answer and the list goes on...what we have learned over the years might be even more than the Ang Mohs and other customers in other part of the world. Unfortunately, what we lack is the proactive sharing of information here...only a few of us actively share our findings on new toys.

5. Under the App, select the frequency range to fit the various speaker crossover frequency range (refer to the speaker spec sheet)

@Desray, what is the rationale of correcting up to speaker crossover frequency and not to Schroeder?

It just sounded better. There is no right or wrong imo.

Agree. Set to the what sound best to you is the right way to go.

It’s very speaker dependent imo.

Went back to limiting correction to 500hz and 2khz and still find full correction with MRC works better for my room. Back to default Audyssey cal.

I thought you advocate to disable MRC? As for correction...I'm experimenting with full correction for my LCR at the moment and it is indeed better. But for surrounds and Atmos speakers, still limiting to 2KHz...YMMV.

Yes, have turned off MRC for a while and turning on MRC brings some gain. Specifically, playing louder without going too bright. This may be possibly due to my small room.

Hmmm...I thought MRC on is the opposite of what you just described...the intentional "BBC dip" is because of the sound playing too bright and harsh around that 2KHz range iirc? I could be wrong on that though...Did you try Flat EQ curve instead of Reference EQ curve since you mentioned that you have a small room? This may help...

MRC tames the higher mid range and reduce some of its forwardness in the range of 1.5khz to 3khz.
