big bad wolf Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Hi all you audiophiles out there , if you can hear this from your super duper system , like me know the name of the components you used. 1] From the Hell Freeze Over cd : Hotel California Can you hear Don's shakers distinctly ? Distinctly 2] Rebecca Pidgeon . Spanish Harlem shaker sound is prominent ? each shaker sound different from the one before it ? :P :D :P
rahul Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Audiophile challenge ;D I will try out hell freezes over tonight. Dont have the other CD.
DIYer Straits Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Don't have 1) Yes on 2). Forgot to clarify as it fluctuates in loudness as the shaker moves to and fro from the mike.

RabPaul Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 you mean the one start at 39 sec on right hand side speaker or the one start at 46 sec on left hand side outside the left speaker? There are two different shakers and they sound different. You should be able to tell which one Don is using as one of them stops and then returns. I can hear them using earphones on a laptop playing the youtube video, so I would think any system should be able to reproduce this.

RabPaul Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 can hear the shakers via my computer speakers, but distinctly, prominent and sound different, use what as reference ? I just played the Spanish Harlem on my laptop from your link, and I can hear differences in rhythm and dynamics and I am sure everyone can if they take the trouble to listen carefully. So again I would think any system can do this.

chilli2 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Don't have 1) Yes on 2). Forgot to clarify as it fluctuates in loudness as the shaker moves to and fro from the mike. bro you're rite, i can hear the shaker move to and away from the mic, this cycle was repeat again and again till the song finish. :)
Jsen Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 bro you're rite, i can hear the shaker move to and away from the mic, this cycle was repeat again and again till the song finish. :) If everyone can hear the shaker moved then what's the catch? Lol
DJQ Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 each shake is different from the other. i believe thread starter wants to know how distinctly each shake is audible as it plays.
joamonte Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 1)you mean the one start at 39 sec on right hand side speaker or the one start at 46 sec on left hand side outside the left speaker? can you hear short mic feedback on the right hand side at 20sec? no body can hear the right hand short humming sound at 20 sec? ;D
BTW1624705745 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Slightly OT....Anyone tried these tracks on top quality headphones... ;) IMHO SOTA headphones are the ones to beat for this type of details... :)
Guest AndrewC Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Slightly OT....Anyone tried these tracks on top quality headphones... ;) IMHO SOTA headphones are the ones to beat for this type of details... :) Yah, I agree. Any average or better headphone system will reveal these types of details very easily, so such "challenge" isn't much use really IMHO. 8)
Sleepytune Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Hi all you audiophiles out there , if you can hear this from your super duper system , like me know the name of the components you used. Till now, nobody mention what are their lists of equipment use which are capable to resolve those fine details... :)
basspundit Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I don't think you need a very good system to hear those. I can hear that in my HT setup with a yamaha receiver and low-end b&w speakers. I think room treatment actually makes a bigger difference if you're going for details.
big bad wolf Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Yah, I agree. Any average or better headphone system will reveal these types of details very easily, so such "challenge" isn't much use really IMHO. 8) friends , i only interested in feedback from those who are using real hifi system [power amp , pre amp , integrated amp , stereo speakers] , not those using person computer , lapdog , earphones , headphone , etc. :P :-[ :P
big bad wolf Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Till now, nobody mention what are their lists of equipment use which are capable to resolve those fine details... :) they don't understand what i said leh. ;D ;D ;D

rahul Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Does being an audiophile means that while listening to a live stage recording......... you pay all your attention to find out from which audience row the sneezing sound came...rather than paying attention to whats going on up on the stage ? I think that that kind of clinical analysis sort of beats the purpose of this hobby, which is to enjoy the music.

naglfar Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I think room treatment actually makes a bigger difference if you're going for details. I definitely agree with this. Ths is the reason why for critical listening, I will use my headphones setup. Marantz CD6000OSE > Head-Direct EF1 > AKG K702.
