ronildoq Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Same not really a fan of YPAO, but huge fan of the Sabre Pro 9038, looks like Yamaha uses various versions of Sabre DACs in their line up... will continue to look out for one that comes with the 9038 pro, Super good!

The DAC used is just one small part, IMO the design and implementation matters more..
YANG Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 No idea what's the DACs used in NAD T758v3. But @ $1.3k with all channels preouts... https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1648660855248343&id=111094785671632&__tn__=%2AW-R ... this is one model cannot be missed out by pre&power gamers out there!
Doggie Howser Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Can you live with 3 HDMI inputs? Because that’s all you get with the NAD
desray Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Can you live with 3 HDMI inputs? Because that’s all you get with the NAD Can always add active Switcher to increase the number of HDMI Inputs though not as elegant if you ask me.
YANG Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 3 inputs should be enough baa... 1 for 4k BD, 1 for 2k BD, 1 for streamers... What's more to add?
Pismo Mac Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Starhub/Singtel/DTV box, PS4/Xbox/Apple TV ... 3 inputs should be enough baa... 1 for 4k BD, 1 for 2k BD, 1 for streamers... What's more to add? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tiktokape Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I think NAD T777 V3 is worth a look as it has DIRAC built-in. Much better in pricing against the punch-up on Denon recently. Good enough for me being 5.1.4 user, add another stereo amp will do. http://lenbrook.com.sg/nad-electronics/136-nad-t777-v3-receiver.html
jdc115 Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 3 inputs should be enough baa... 1 for 4k BD, 1 for 2k BD, 1 for streamers... What's more to add? Why would you need a 2k BD? and for the next poster, can you not use many 4K BD as the input for other devices like Starhub?
YANG Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Why would you need a 2k BD?... Just imaginary occupant to a HDMI port... can be replaced with something else... ehh... HDMI Audio player?
YANG Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I think NAD T777 V3 is worth a look as it has DIRAC built-in. Much better in pricing against the punch-up on Denon recently... 777 according to LenBrook's site, claims that it's 7.1.4 ready but require external power amp to drive the height channels... Hmmm... ... ... There doesn't seems to be pre-outs for height/ceiling channels? Anthem's MRX720 have pre-outs for the height/ceiling channels
Doggie Howser Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 The NAD does sound better - the internal amps are great classic NAD designs. But if I use external power amps, it becomes a wash. The other issue I have is handshaking. The HDMI implementation is just less robust than with something I get with the Marantz. And also the NAD is less flexible with amp assign. Even if you use external amps for the front LR Channel which is what we normally use, you can’t reassign the unused amps for say surround back or Atmos. I believe if you step to the 787, you get more HDMI inputs. But at that price, you might already want to consider the Arcam AVR390. I believe you need to step to NAD Masters series to get full DIRAC Live. The Classic NAD only have DIRAC LE. Arcam AVR has DIRAC from the entry level 390. For my money, Marantz SR6012 is the best bang for the buck. 9 internal amps, full 11 Channel processing and Dolby Vision out of the box. Just add more amps if you need to supplement the not great internal amps. And when you finally get enough power amps, you can swap out to a full fledged processor.

The newer version has a new MDC card that has 4 RCA outputs for Atmos.
tiktokape Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 I agree with DH on going for Arcam, it has better refinement. Unfortunately, seems like NAD 778 is not available locally by searching through the website. What I like on NAD is partly due to its house sound and capability to drive KEF speakers, it does match well. I have been waiting patiently for a full DIRAC based AVR/AVP since start of last year after my good experience with DIRAC from what I heard. I’m trying to avoid an audyssey based equipment and mixing with external based DIRAC EQ equipment.
YANG Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 ...What I like on NAD is partly due to its house sound and capability to drive KEF speakers, it does match well... When it comes to maturity in audio engineering, the older names i would trust are Sherwood, NAD, as well as ROTEL... Of course from the oriental side, Marantz achieved more recognition thru different generations a little more than Denon, much more than Pioneer and Yamaha. on the close range of price, @ 3.9k, ROTEL 1562 seems to be a competitor to T777 ...however one thing i'm confused... from the picture, u can see that there's amplified connection to speakers @ height, but according to specs http://www.rotel.com/product/rsx-1562 there's no Atmos or DTS:X?

YANG Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Although it's a highest end make from CAMBRIDGE Audio... ...priced competitively under 3k... it cannot be compared with others with most updated Surround format...
