naimster Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 didnt know Tidals are in sg, what models do they have on demo? I just heard the tidals pre power and speaker at MBD. Impressively fast and transparent. Beautifyl glossy piano black finish on both amp and speaker. A bit tight sounding out of box but the potential is there. Worth checking it out.

lonesax Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 The new sophia's are about 22k and sasha's are 38k I think they sound really great. Go for sophia's and use the remaining to upgrade your amps. The magico's are hard to drive to bring out it's potential so kinda depends on what equipment u have :)
char siew pau Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 My choice would be Shindo 604E field coil. Or Evolution Acoustic MM2 Or a pair of JL Audio's Gotham G213 subwoofer, Lowther PM4A Silver, First Watt B4 and car battery powered Azura AH-160 (pic from toogoodears) ;D
malsound Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Do not know how much it costs or how it sound but simply like it for its killer good look :P http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/roadtourlivingvoice/1.html
Idlewise4ever Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 How about vivid too? Anyone tried?
Chowbotak Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 If I have S$30k to be spent specifically on a pair of spks I'll need even more money to upgrade my room, fuckin cb hdb flats small like fcuk! ;D
keithwwk Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I will buy a pair of Harbeth M40.1 and keep the remaining for more albums, live classical music concerts and holidays....
SHL-5 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I will buy a pair of Harbeth M40.1 and keep the remaining for more albums, live classical music concerts and holidays.... x10 on that......probably add a nice LFD integrated into the equation & you have what some music lovers deem as end of the road setup.
big bad wolf Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 if you are not well off , please don't buy anything that cost most than 10K. it is a complete rip off. ;D ;D ;D buy only when you kena toto or big sweep big first. :D :D :D
domho8 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Better save for rainy days, 2011 maybe very stormy season. ;D Tonight 4D, if tio get a DAC. ;D
Quest88 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 everyone's lifestyle is different. some can afford $3MM cars others find $300k an excessive luxury already. :) let's stick to the topic!
meatballz Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 if i got $30k dollah, i will buy the best speakers that is mission e80. sure beat the rest. as the hokkien saying goes " no horse run". ;D
Austrich Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 everyone's lifestyle is different. some can afford $3MM cars others find $300k an excessive luxury already. :) let's stick to the topic! I would also assume ts has all it takes to match his $30k speakers.. room size, good amplifier, good taste and deep pocket, so Just do it ! Get the best ..... ;) just my $30k worth comments .. ;D
Simon Toh Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 wah all the recommendations are unheard of for me...except maybe the harbeth...really high end stuffs... >.<
Jsen Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Well, perhaps this pair of Magico's new Q5 (US$59,950/pair) is out of budget but they are really swee. ;D
big bad wolf Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 everyone's lifestyle is different. some can afford $3MM cars others find $300k an excessive luxury already. :) let's stick to the topic! ok. goto this url http://www.higherfi.com/audio_speakers/4 price is in US$ ,so you can buy any speakers with price tag lower than 26K. conclusion : 1]all these very expensive speakers must look weird to justify the price. 2] the sound may not justify the price.
francis wu Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Guys, stop your day dreaming and come down to earth!!...... ;D ;D
Guest durianlover88 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I tend to agree on the point about price 'matching'. Typically if the speakers is that expensive ($30K), then most of the time, the serious audiophile will have around the same value per CDP/CDT/DAC/PRE/AMP. This is the kinda observation mostly true if you re-examine your component price breakdown. Not to mention accessories costs. So when deciding to spend $30K for speakers alone - and if this is the most expensive item in the hifi system as a start - then be aware you are likely on a 'road of no return' because you will tend to start upgrading everything else in the chain ;D Down to earth - like what Bro Francis say - is better :) BTW, the link provided by Big Bad Wolf reminded me of Hansen Knight/Prince and Vivid Giya. They should be really good speakers. Anyone know where they are on demo? Getting the chance to hear them will make me contented. ::)
Idlewise4ever Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 I think prince n gigaya is more than 50k, another league Liao. Am keen to know if anyone tried vivid k1, revel saloon 2, yg Carmel? As for matching components, it's not the topic here at the moment la, let's just stick to speakers :) Cheers
Guest durianlover88 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Did not own Revel Ultima Saloon 2, but auditioned a year back at the Adelphi showroom with another bro who has keen ears. The conclusion was the showroom room acoustics and component matching were likely mismatched to big degree, such that the speakers sonics sounded flawed and ordinary. Suggest if you are keen and has clear intention to buy a pair of good speakers at 30k budget, should probably insist on a home trial. :)

Can you let me know which dealers in Singapore allow to home trial a SGD30K speakers, I will like to go for it. Thank you
Guest durianlover88 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Bro, usually depends on how much previous business done with them before, or you have close long-term relationship with them. If a newbie, need to show you have 'buying power' ($). Usually they will ask what equipment or cables you are using, and they 'gauge' whether you indeed can buy or you just simply wasting their time. Like my bro always say - need to earn that 'right' :)
meatballz Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Ha you will also need to buy $30k cdplayer, $30k pre, $30k amp, $30k cables.
