unclemack Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Over rated: Bruce Springsteen Tedious stadium rock, all sounds the same (duck for cover) Overrated? Have you seen him live? I've never been a big fan but when I saw him at Hanging Rock a few years back I was in awe. 60+ years old, playing for three+ hours every night while inky skimming his vast back catalogue. This is not a bloke who shuffles on stage and noodles his way through a bunch of golden oldies. His energy and heart are evidenced in every sweat drenched performance during which he gives everything and at the end, leaves nothing on stage. And he's been doing this for 40 years give or take... You don't like "stadium rock"? That's fine but Springsteen overrated? You're having a lend. 1

zenikoy Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 People always think I'm Beatles bashing when I say they are overrated, but its a bit like this....... and for a few other who are north of the red line. Just a random pick of artists 1

Citroen Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Over-rated: Elliot Smith Under-rated: Nick Drake How does that work Both are highly rated by critics Neither are popular While I do very much like Elliot Smith's work, I believe it is overrated, "given too much importance, too much credit for what its worth". Its very highly rated, while I just rate it. And I'm only guessing, has relatively more popularity than Drake. And on the other hand, Drake, who was an inspiration for Smith, is neither popular in the wider population, nor gets the absolutely most critical acclaim that I believe he deserves. His music is rated well, whereas it should be seen as nectar from the gods! Hence under-rated. But hey, that's just how I see it keyse1. 1

I'd rather see one and a half hours of 'great music', than three hours of same ole! His sound is monotone and his songs are not very captivating. I dunno, I just find him boring! (ducks for cover)
Freedom Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 That is so wrong about The Beach Boys One must realise that 'every' band is open slather in this thread! There's no right or wrong, it's all opinion based!
