hifi4ever Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Hi guys, My first post. Can anyone recommend me a compact subwoofer for my small bedroom? Only those units they are available here in SG. Thank you.
5th Avenue Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Hi hfi4ever, There's smaller upto 8in from Velodyne, psb, SVS,.. etc but it really depend on your budget and the LFE effect you are looking for. Cheers
hifi4ever Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 Thanks for the idea. The velodyne (Minivee) looks cool but the price is not. I'm leaning towards the PSB unit (subseries 1). Where can audition and buy PSBs?
5th Avenue Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Hi, If I am not mistaken there's a PSB showroom at 1st sty Shaw Building (Prince Theater) at Beach Road. Have not audition PSB so not sure of the price. Did a home trial for MiniVee equivalent....spl800 i think but 10in version from KEC. Don't like it cos too much excursion of the woofer creates distortion in my set-up but did not gave me the HT effect I was looking for. For a moment i thought there's some problem with it. Talk to Dennis or Clarence for home trial if you are interested. My HT is now on 2 Rythmik 15in though not properly positioned. I got them from Econav...think still have the F12 or F12SE on demo. The F12 subs was nicely set-up and very musical. Peng may be able to help. Cheers ;D
hifi4ever Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Hi, I've bought my first ever subwoofer (velodyne) today. Spent the whole afternoon playing my metal CDs and re-watching Megamind. What a big difference in sound quality compared to just using my PSB bookshelf speakers. Also I bought a ridiculously expensive subwoofer cable (100+ bucks). Oh well... hifi is not cheap!
5th Avenue Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Well spending money is fine as long you enjoy what you are spending it on... ;) ;) ;) The things we do for home entertainment..... ;D ;D ;D Cheers...
walkthatbass Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Had a REL sometime back. It was great.
