alastair.wong Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I will like to share my setup with the forum. I got to admit that I have been reading more than posting all these while, hence its time for me to make a small contribution so that others can benefit like I did by referencing and bench marking using information from this forum while setting up my AV room ( cave). :) BEFORE RENOVATION & HECKING OF WALL TO UNLOCK MORE FLOOR SPACE PLANNED LAYOUT ACTUAL LAYOUT Meanwhile, I am still tweaking away for HiFi setup. HT setup is more or less done, except maybe for some room treatment in time to come. Also there is leakage of sound from the room out as I have removed the original door, replaced with 2 layer of curtains in order to unlock more floor space. Once again, I must say that I am really thankful to guys in the forum for sharing. Looking forward to learn more from you guys. PS: I must credit Alfie from Entheos LLP for his services and help during my setup. petetherock Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 bingo Time for a demo session bro.. Will bring some wine... In return you can come by my place too if you like? Got a session this Sunday...
alastair.wong Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 After upgrading my AVR from Onkyo SR875 to 5009 ( due to 875 only supports HDMI 1.3, hence screwing up my video output). I experienced some boom-iness, reverberation from false ceiling ( right side) and right wall (double layered panel with a layer of rockwool). AVR was setup with Onkyo Audessey. I thought it should tune and solve the issue. So question is; 1) Is it because 5009 is more powerful than 875 hence causing the boominess and reverberation? 2) Will relocating the sub to the left side of the room, closer to the curtains away from the walls on the right help? Of course perform Audessey setup after relocation. Any lao jiao can advise?
petetherock Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Nothing to do with your amp. Even a slight change in Audyssey mike placement, will cause changes. After spending so much, I suggest you engage one of the pros here, eg Peng, Joamonte, or Nick. Your ceiling is one of the most vulnerable to vibration.. You can come check out what I or sdds did (see my thread too)... it's more than just some rockwool

THink i went over to get some demo disc and you were kind enough to burn for me. Today is already Thursday, I am fine with Fri or Sat night at my place. How to go about arranging? I am new at this. :) btw, wat time is the session at your place on Sunday? Can PM me address and time?
