Received my Honeywell today, and it' confirmed to be 110V only, so please don't try it on our circuits without a convertor..

Will crank it up after my trip..

BTW a reviewer on Amazon measured it's max consumption as 85W, so you could just get by with the 100W convertor if you were pressed to do so.

If you look at the label on the bottom, it should have the wattage. My locally bought 17450 (the version with the CPZ filter) says 100W. The older Honeywells were larger and consumed more. However, don't forget that you are running a 60Hz device at 50Hz so you should provide some headroom for higher current.

My twin Winix's from Korea are doing well. Love their small footprint and quiet sound. Highly recommended :D

I just can't have US voltage in my house- basically I'm the only one in my house who would be clued up enough about it!

Just need to figure out how to manage the washable filters at the end of the month....

Well if the convertor is permanently attached, it's just another item.

Surely everyone in the home can handle that?

It's not rocket science (even if it is, the members of your household should be capable of that... ;) )

Unless you really really permanently sort of "super glued" them together (plug onto the converter).

Else, you will be surprise - just a slip of mind (like unplug for cleaning the dust or etc ....) and connect back wrongly ..........  smoking plastic smell  :o :o

Afraid not bro, only have 2 air purifiers so in the daytime they are at the living area (coverage is good then), then unplug and plug-in in the bedrooms. My 7 yo kid (yes, the machine is pretty light), maid and wife can move them- just need them to leave the extra "adapter" behind and plug straight into the other room's socket and then I'd be sunk!

Besides the slightly higher risk of fire, wasted energy due to voltage conversion, extra cost of a voltage converter (and replacements where needed), etc. Just makes more sense from my POV. Besides, 6 stage 5 stage filtration, washable pre filters, quiet operation, slim profile/ small footprint, PlasmaWave ionisation, etc Its a convincing package ;p

I have it purring away 2ft from my head at night on power 2 out of 4, really quite quiet, about as loud as my aircon- in fact I can raise my Aircon temp cos the air purifier is blowing air across to me :D V happy with it indeed.

Hi bros,

I have 2 question,1) do u still use the purifier during these times? (when psi is in the good range)

2) Using with a/c on only?

Posted

It will work well as long as you have the windows and doors closed, whether the aircon is on or not. Otherwise dust will continue to come in from the outside.

My Honeywell purifier and step down transformer shipped by Amazon have already arrived in Singapore since July 6. Wonder why it takes so long for the items to clear our Singapore custom.

Is there a way to check apart from Amazon website tracking?

I expect that they are using i-parcel? You can track here (which is similar to amazon) and there's an email link to send your enquiry

last tried, they did respond within a day with a boilerplate response but provided the eventual speedpost tracking number.

Hi Bros,

Just to share, I bought the following off Amazon:

Honeywell 16200 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000TMDY2/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sharp FP-A40 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GLCVRI/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and this from a local seller on eBay:

NF-30 for $39 http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/WINSTAR-NF-30-Power-Switching-Converter-110v-220v-300Watt-/281132315189

Both are running fine for the past week. Bought both at 22 and 23 June separately, received them at about 05 July, so, iParcel takes about 2 weeks for delivery of each order. Had to write to Amazon to apply for the shipping discount, response is within the next day and discount appeared on paypal 2 days later. The Sharp box is quite big and the shipping discount was valid despite the size.

For the Sharp purifier on Amazon, it features both Hepa filters and Ionizers, total cost to run it in SG is S$250. The similarly priced models sold in SG has ionizers only (ie FU-Z31E and KC 930E W, check the user manuals to believe)

For the Honeywell 16200, it is supposed to use HRF-C1 as replacement filter for Hepa-like performance. As experiment, I also bought the HRF-H1 filter that offers True Hepa performance and it seems to fit snugly into the 16200. You can take this result and explore at your own risk.

That's look interesting.

The actual size looks a lot bigger, if this is free shipping worth give a try.

Just to share for those who are still looking for airpurifier,  best denki / novita offer preorder now.

Depending on models, will be available from end of july to aug.

Best denki advertised that there is $100 off for selected models and free an additional set of filters (not sure what's the regular street price / promo pkg, so not sure if this is considered attractive)

Just to raise awareness and to share: if you want a decent unit from overseas (cheaper mah) but still want 240V simplicity and peace of mind try the Winix units we bought in a recent MO for about SGD350 (can be cheaper I think).

Never heard of Winix? Check out the reviews of the brand here: 4.5 stars over 300 reviews! http://www.amazon.com/Winix-PlasmaWave-5300-Cleaner-Model/dp/B001RUS05E/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1373518588&sr=1-1&keywords=winix

Anyway, we bought this model: It's plasmawave technology is similar to Sharp's version.

(photos courtesy of DreamSS@Sg from his MO thread: http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=140476.0#quickreply )

Similar to this model sold by Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Winix-FresHome-P450-Cleaner-PlasmaWave/dp/B009ZJY4KE/ref=sr_1_8?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1373518588&sr=1-8&keywords=winix

size= 414(W)*220(D)*550(H)mm

weight 6.5kg

5 stage filtration

washable hepa filter and carbon filter

A few thoughts:

It seems to think my bedroom AQ isn't too good but it's happy with the kids' room. When I breathe on the sensor the thing lights up Ha ha! :P But it doesn't seem to go down afterwards- not sure what thats about ???

Its not too bad in terms of loudness (soundmeter C weighting, 1ft from unit but out of the airflow):

Level 4 max flow is 64db, level 3 is 54db, level 2 is 45db, quiet mode is super quiet (can't actually measure it). Same method on my air con set on high- 59db.

Level 2 is easily good enough for sleeping.

Seems to have a good amount of airflow from the unit, impressive considering its filtering 99.97% True HEPA (as opposed to 'bog-standard' HEPA)

The units are much smaller than I realised and the slimline design is a nice touch and takes little floor space.

So far so good.

Anyone oredi starting using their new honeywell 17000 from

Amazon? Do u turn it on 24hrs a day or?

I running my Sharp 24hrs a day, before heading for work, turn on max fan, after work turn down to minimum and run through the night. Hopefully it reduces my kid's nose sensitivity acting up.

I bought the Winix P300 from Amazon and I'm very satisfy with the performance thus far...quiet mode is really very quiet and hardly notice it's existence...turbo mode can be loud but still bearable...running averagely 12 hrs a day

Yes, I saw this Winix model before and was hesitating if it's good.

What's the noise level of this ?

Was looking at the lower model actually.

Winix FresHome Model P150 True HEPA or the mid level. Winix FresHome Model P300

Alex, the Freshome is the US version of the one I bought (mine is from Korea and is 240V not 110V (yours in the picture is the lower model). If you look at my post I stuck the sound meter readings there... I'll bold it for you. http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=140075.msg907795#msg907795

Gentlemen, prepare your masks and purifiers. Looks like the Haze is back! although strangely, the PSI reading seems to be low...
