dankoo Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I think it is to the writers' credit that they actually echo some of our own skepticism about the big reveal into Liz's conversation with Ressler. Or maybe they are just trying to give Liz a way out to stop digging. Either way, the show can try to move on with the whole 'Who is Red' stroyline. At least from Liz's perspective. I hope you mean to say it's not the last we see of Dembe Oops...indeed...typo
lonewold_sg Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I remember posting a list of The Blacklist 2 years back. Here is an updated list just in time for S07 premiere. It's nice to see this show back and I still enjoy watching the show. I think it has one of the best-crafted mythology although the never-ending conspiracies and red herrings can be a little tiresome at times. Still at its heart, the show has good writings, good acting, fascinating characters and good production values. Maybe it's why it is still surviving into its 7th season. I thought S06 would be it last. It would reach its 150th season this season and I hope it would stick around for a few seasons more.
lonewold_sg Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 I thought S06 would be it last. It would reach its 150th season this season and I hope it would stick around for a few seasons more. Looks like I was right. At the celebration of the series 150th episode, it was announced that The Blacklist has been renewed for an 8th season. Tellingly, it was reported that there are no current plans for Season 8 to be the show’s final season. I guess, how long the show will run will depend on James Spader's desire to continue with the role of Raymond "Red" Reddington. But he is such an interesting character, I think James will probably like to continue with the role. Of course, with no end of the series in sight, it probably means that we won't learn about the true identity of Red anything soon. But honestly, as a fan of the show, I think that train has left the platform and I can't say I really care about who Red really is now. Boxerfan88 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Nice. I kind of enjoy this show. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 The writers have done an excellent job I feel. They have managed to keep this show kind of fresh, even after so many seasons. I actually did enjoy the current season.
Doggie Howser Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Just caught the latest episode. Love the Agatha Christie vibe Love the Marilyn Manson track.
lonewold_sg Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing production companies to be creative with shows that have not wrapped up production. Most just cut the season short with a shortened season but The Blacklist is taking a different approach. Originally planned for a 22 episode run, the partially filmed episode 19 will now serve as the S07 finale. Graphic-novel-style animation will be added in with the casts providing the audio for their characters. It's certainly a 'novel' way of ending the season and it will be interesting to see how its panned out. SOURCE: The Blacklist goes animated for season 7 finale amid production shutdown
lonewold_sg Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Check out the trailer for the hybrid episode of the Season 7 finale. [embed=689,349] [/embed] It's interesting, to say the least. It's not going to be full-blown animation so the character's mouth won't be moving so it feels more like a voice-over. [update] I was wrong. The character's mouth did move. It was interesting the way the cast and crew broke the 4th wall but I guess it was appropriate. I like the way the episode was put together. It does not feel like a patchwork at work so kudos to the crew for managing that. I'm not sure I like where the series is going but that's another matter.
Guest Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Ok, watched the season finale. Looks a bit weird, but I guess got to applaud the team for creatively ending the season and at least not leaving us with blue balls. Now hoping for a season 8, the story has been getting interesting.
Doggie Howser Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 I applaud the method they used to make the last episode but it felt a little rushed - understandable - but the character shifts were a little out of character. is this the last season?

Yeah, I agree it was pretty rushed and their characters' characteristics were not the same. Felt like everything was happening at double speed. The crew all do hint at a Season 8, so hopefully this is not goodbye.

Proof positives that I'm probably monologuing to myself in this thread most of the time! ;D I have reported way back in Feb that the show has indeed been renewed for S08 before the pandemic shut down production.

lonewold_sg Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 haha yeah you did say that but this pandemic might have changed everything. What's likely to happen is that the entire 2020/21 Fall TV season will be delayed. Probably to Jan 2021 earliest. The CW has already announced that it will launch its 2020-21 season in January. I expect the other Big 4 network to announce similar plans soon. So it will probably be a while before S08 screens.
lonewold_sg Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 I am not sure if anyone is still following this show but S08 hasn't really live up to expectations so far. 3 episodes in, events has changed drastically and the evolution of Liz as a character has seemingly taken to the dark side. While it may be understandable to a degree, some of the decisions that she took was just too hard to watch and at a point, it become indefensible. Having invested all these times in the show, I am reluctant to drop the show (as I had done with Batwoman). But if this is the trajectory of the story-telling for the rest of the season, then I think it will get real tiresome real soon. For whatever reasons, NBC brass seems to love the show and has handed it an early S09 renewal. I guess we will have more flogging of the dead horse for some time to come. dankoo Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 still following...S7 was pretty good...I hope the first few eps of 8 is not definitive of how the season going to be...
Doggie Howser Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 WTF in this new season. there have always been plots in The Blacklist where characters acted out of err character to move the plot along but never this extreme but if Raymond was ever this blindsided by emotions, he wouldn't have lasted this long It is already S8 and they still can't give us a proper reason why Raymond is doing all this? FFS after all the teasing of is he or isn't he? this is worst than Lost I am almost ready to give up

lonewold_sg Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 (edited) I won't lie. I thought S8 was going to hell when Liz went full rage on Red. I wasn't really enjoying the trajectory of her character development. But as the season goes on, the Red v Townsend feud really kick up a gear and it was still engaging and interesting. The lead up to the finale hints that The Blacklist is probably going to change in the upcoming season. Most fans assume that one of the OG members will not be coming back in S9. The fans were right. I doubt many of them would see this coming. Liz aka Megan Boone is the one who will not be returning. SOURCE: ‘The Blacklist’ Star Megan Boone Leaving NBC Series After 8 Seasons WOW! I mean, the entire premise of the show is 'Red protecting Liz' overarching plot. With Liz gone for S9, what does it means for The Blacklist? Too soon to tell I guess. But I'm going on a limb and says that Megan may not be coming back but that does not mean Liz won't be around for S9. They probably just give her a new identity and get a new lead to play her. According to the report, the decision to leave the show was apparently made by Megan before the show was renewed. And her no-show for part of S08 (for personal reason reportedly) was perhaps a harbinger for this news. Frankly, prior to S08 it would be unimaginable for Megan not to be part of the show. But Megan's performance and Liz's character development has become increasingly tiresome. In fact, those episode she was not in was just (if not more) captivating. So The Blacklist would just be fine without Megan. She probably get tired of playing Liz and wanted to play other roles or something. Edited June 16, 2021 by lonewolf
Doggie Howser Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Just caught the latest episode - it finally got interesting and dare I say, a very unexpected move. So the real Raymond is her father.. but the Raymond we see now could be.... Wait.. didn't Liz take a DNA sample of the Raymond we see now.. wouldn't that DNA test show Raymond wasn't related to her? Left blank in case of spoiler alerts. Liz's character this season (and most of the last) has been painful to say the least. I thought they were finally closing up loose ends and ending the show for real this time. I guess the Blacklist would still need to live on for Agnes' sake.
