Some common question that homeowners face during renovation -

How best can I plan my cabling?

How should I build my integrated furniture?

How to avoid rattling noises during loud playback?

How to get good acoustics while not needing additional panelling?

How to ensure all the planned work is problem-free?

How to minimize unnecessary cost while getting all the work done?

We are planning a free seminar on the following weekend (20-22 Dec) to help anyone who has the above concerns.

Interested parties can PM me or post here to register your interest and preferred timing.

We are finalizing the Saturday afternoon timing and closing registration for that session soon.

Based on the number of registration within these 2 days we will decide whether to open another session, so if you are interested please PM or reply to register.

Thanks!

Nic , I will like to add this ,

If anyone is looking at building a HTroom and keen on the future 3D sound processing/setup , we may do a free design plan for you just like the last we did for sdds from ground up with no cost , but you just buy the hardware you need and like.

If you are looking into home automation and if you want to save cost and manage the reno yourself what are the things you need to look out and how do costing  ? or if you going thru ID how to play safe and also save cost ? can you tender for biding for a reno ?

If you have many question on this , I can be there to answer some if not all.

The Saturday 2pm session is fully signed up for those who responded on 18th or before (already confirmed by PM).

For those signup 19th and onwards we are looking to schedule another session at 5pm.

We will have a presentation on the mentioned topics, including answering issues raised beforehand.

After this presentation we will have an open discussion session so do come prepared.

As each will have different needs and prior knowledge,  do list down if there is any specific issue which you want us to be addressed. Any questions related to IT, Networking, HT, audio, video, and renovations are welcome.

Even better if you have a floor plan or any drawings.

Actually just to add a note to this area -

Usually it's best to start with first the ID level and then work with the M&E contractor to lay the cables and power point provision.

Try to get an ID with working knowledge of AV or a proper AV contractor involve from the start for the best budgetary quote.

If it's a landed property, then architect.

There are many horror stories that I've heard from old birds in the industry of people trying to save cost - and try to DIY everything but have no clue on doing the proper planning and project management.

In the end all the wiring is wrong, all the points can't work as it should - usually for this kind of job, they won't give you warranty period to rectify the problems - so once hand over and T&C, you'll start to cry.

So in short, pay a professional to do it but also verify closely if the professional can do proper consultation and not "CON"sultion.

Always seek 2-3 opinion to get a better idea.

If you want a good contractor - you can look for ARC audio - very old bird in the industry.

I don't work for them.

Due to scheduling considerations and also to maximize the productivity of the session, we are combining both sessions into 2pm, followed by an extended open discussion time

This way, any issues being raised can be addressed to the whole group without having to be concerned to clear the space for the next session.

I have sent PM to those previously scheduled for 5pm and do let me know if unable to make it.

Thanks to everyone that attended, I hope you all found all the information provided beneficial.  For those unable to attend, here is the summary of some key points which we found the guys were most interested in:

1. Prepare yourself familiarizing yourself with various themes and designs

2. Be well versed with the range of building materials and accessories available locally

3. Do make sure to check the work specified during your renovation, especially electrical outlets and false ceilings.

Mark the route for cabling to be run so that you can be sure that indeed it has been done so accordingly.

Do an inspection before anything is completely sealed up

4. Don't save the 10% on contractors by buying materials directly yourself, only to spend it on unnecessary things that make the situation worse.

5. Treat the workers with respect and they will be more willing to listen to you and do a good job.

Coming up we will be planning a session where we can do a live comparison between various materials and also comparing a dedicated vs non-dedicated lines!

Also, do feel free to let us know if there are any topics which you would like us to cover in the future.
