i think people who purchase cars like that arent very concerned about servicing costs.

if you can afford almost $200k for a new gtr, or bmw m3 or porsche etc etc, i doubt money will be an issue

Same here. The costs of servicing a GTR that is even a few years old can be quite breath-taking. If you drive it hard, those costs can skyrocket, as oil changes (transmission AND engine oil) must be changed very regularly. Figure on about $1,000.00 - $1,500.00 for an oil change! Porsches are much cheaper.

Actually the 1,500 includes changing the DSG and differential oils. And you only need to do that when the temps exceed 120 degrees according to the service manual. A regular oil change isn't that expensive. Plus if you drive smoothly, the temps are usually below 120 degrees. A full diff and transmission oil change on the PDK based Porkers are also going to be in the same ballpark.

I was talking to a BM mechanic a little while back about the NO service transmissions these days.

His comment was, yes it keeps the service costs down and new car owners like that.

But when the second owner comes along after the car has been traded and out of warranty the real pain begins.

Fluids need remain quite fresh for long term life and reliabilty.

$8k+ transmissions are quite painful to cop!

Oils is cheaper than engines
