@mc240

I played a couple of these at a market on the sunshine coast, the Eumende (my spelling is probably way off) made up there but great cigar box guitars.post-106406-135212481998_thumb.jpg

Wondered when you'd show up John nice collection you've got there. How's the playing coming along

still enjoying it mate and progressing slowly.

At the point now were i can learn a song easily enough.

Still need to work on my speed and a few techniques, but all in all, happy with my progress.

Daughter is absolutely loving it. She has her end of year concert coming up and she is playing and singing these days....

Gretsch 5122 electromatic with the pickup upgrade and a nice little Laney valve practice amp.

I have a loop pedal also that was supposed to encourage me to practice.

My other guitar is an Ibanez performance acoustic. I got the Gretsch in the hope it would be easier to play, which it is in some ways.

They come out often enough but calling me a hack would be generous.

It's still fun makin' a noise for some reason.

Nice Gretsch Briz the cat worries me, test drive a Fender gdec, like having a band in a box you will notice the improvement in a week.

I've had one for while, and have progressed to advanced hack ;) .

Download some backing tracks from the net.

Even the crap ones are OK for playing along.

Makes practice easier and the time flies.

this is why i am loving rocksmith

i dont play it as a game, simply go to songs, crank them up to 100% so you learn the same thing, put it on riff repeater and play away till you learn it. Have the full backing track, lyricks everything along with it. Just like playing with the real band.

Once you master a song, it lets you go to master mode, so you play along in a bar but with no visual aids to help you along anymore

bloody great fun

Got a way to go yet, methinks.

14 bids $1000 thats bargain if you take into account the Epiphone ej200 ce goes for 850 in Australia.

My first guitar was something like this one.

It was a real dog to play but turned out good to learn on!

I don't know what happened to that..............but a mate of mine then sold me his SG copy............

something like this...........it was a weird shiny red.

Just as a follow up to my problem.

Guitar is fixed, took it in for the warranty set up etc and the nut was replaced.

Original nut was cut too shallow but when the luthier tried it with a deeper cut the string was too low.

So he fitted a new nut, the ones used on Gibson Custom he tells me, and it's all hunky dory now :) So it was a Gibson QC problem I suppose.

Just got to get used to the new strings now, same gauge set as what was on it, but feel very different to the original Gibson fitted.
