Jagdpanzer Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 So can it play bdmv files for those we received it?
tiktokape Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 Will try later of the day and feedback. As per the read up, it supports HD Master and Dolby HD via pass through. Atmos is currently out at the moment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
rage1624705821 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Yes I had that offer too. Received mine last week. Yet to spend some time to play with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I ordered mine on 1 Nov and chose free shipping. It got shipped on 3 Nov and was enroute via iParcel. When I checked today's status, the parcel got rejected by the shipping agent and has been returned back to Amazon. Had a quick online chat with Amazon customer service as to why the shipment was rejected. After checking, Amazon decided to ship a "replacement order" free of charge via Global Priority Shipping. Hope to receive it early next week. So I am basically getting a free Nvidia Shield TV. Yeah! That's what I call Customer Service. I would have just settled for free Priority Shipping. Didn't expect them to give me the unit for free.

tiktokape Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Must have gotten the refund and Amazon shipped one for free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Audio Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Must have gotten the refund and Amazon shipped one for free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Another cost for them to absorb...........it's not getting cheap to buy stuff from Amazon....I tends to get my stuff from Ebay now. (Audio)
ptey Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I got the same problem too from Amazon but ask for the replacement unit with free upgrade shipping. I dont think I got a free unit tho since it is replacement. LOL
ptey Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Just received shipping notification from Amazon, and to my surprise they are still using the same forwarder i-Parcel and the delivery time is even longer now. Free upgrade?? my foot!!!
tiktokape Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Did your order reflects priority shipping? This is the fastest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tiktokape Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Another update; I tried to playback 4K clips, direct output from Shield ATV->Denon 7200WA->Panny 4K tv. Clips are located in portable hdd, my desktop system and Synology NAS. The playback is smooth and no shuttering at all. I'm using Kodi app to playback. Sadly, the audio codec still a bummer, Atmos is out, my AVR reflects PCM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

rage1624705821 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Received mine today from UPS. Very fast shipping indeed!!! Havent try yet. I received mine yesterday as well. I wonder if the bundled HDMI cable is 2.0 compliant. Now I need to go get another HDMI 2.0 cable since I have none at the moment since it will be hooked up direct to my new Denon AVR.

Also, will appreciate if you could share on how u get this item into singapore i.e. via Amazon direct or via SingPost? Thanks Its able to play 4K MKV files smoothly. Nothing much to setup. Go to Google Play store to download Kodi (XBMC) and you are up and running. You just need to setup Kodi preferences to suit your needs. But will have to wait for updated Kodi to support DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD audio passthrough. Shipping from Amazon to Singapore is free. Direct shipping. Currently Amazon has an offer for SATV+Remote for USD175.

Meanwhile, my bro-in-law getting his in a couple of day's time. I can play with his set when it arrived.
tiktokape Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 I had been playing with it on and off due to my workloads recently. I will provide pictures update when available. I'm pretty pleased with the picture quality from Nvidia Shield SATV. Be it on upscale or 4K basis, via USB connection by portable hdd or streaming off NAS/Desktop via DLNA. The streaming via DLNA is smooth without jitter. The streaming I had tested so far, 4K streaming via YouTube, 4K Netflix via app & 4K video clips using Kodi. All are playback at native except 4K Netflix which is subjected streaming but definitely better 1080p resolution. I can't complain much on picture quality, it performs well. Audio wise, bummer if you ask me. Why? True that Nvidia has updated DTS HD audio codec in fw 2.1 BUT it is available in its native video app. The ideal app in SATV is Kodi or Plex but they are capable of DTS or Dolby at the moment. However, there is update by Kodi that it will support DTS HD in next update. Fingers crossed! Like I mentioned earlier, Atmos is out, so far, Nvidia yet to comment on it BUT I believe it will be added, matter of WHEN? As for playback of files, Kodi has no issues with usual suspects like MKV, ISO or MT2S BUT no go on BDMV native. For BDMV, you have to select the BDMV index file to playback the main MT2S file directly. As for apps, I have tried Kodi, Plex, Netflix and Hulu Plus. Both Kodi and Plex are pretty good, if one prefers simple GUI, go for Kodi, if one prefers Artwork, no brainer will be Plex but do more that Kodi is able to load basis artwork. For Netflix and Hulu plus, the plus point is Netflix 4K streaming vs my previous Apple TV and picture quality by SATV is pretty good. If one got no rush to for a 4K media player, hold your bullets on SATV if audio codec is your concern but no doubt it has the BEST specifications at the moment. It is the only media player with 60fps. I will try out the gaming part when I got more free time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Amazon is having a promotion at USD174.99 for Nvidia Shield SATV with Remote FOC till end of Dec 2015. I bought mine at USD149.99 for standalone Nvidia Shield. Paid additional USD49.99 for the Remote, it seems expensive but I had a hands on it, it is equally sleek if compare with Apple TV's remote. The pricey tag is due to voice enabled feature.
