Using the Note 8 since Saturday. Was using Nexus 6P just before getting this phone.

So far, the Note 8 is really nice to use. It is certainly more refined than 6P.

Pros:

The beautiful and large screen. The quality and vibrancy of the picture is incredible.

S Pen :)

Speed is very good so far

Dual SIM - I really need this

Face ID unlock

Although it's physically big, it feels balanced and nice to hold.

Cons:

Bixby - I don't use it. And there's a physical button on the left of the screen. Hit it accidentally a few times already. Wish I can reprogram it to do something else. :(

Finger print sensor location - placed next to the camera which is way too far up near top of phone. Not convenient for people with shorter fingers. Nexus 6P's finger print sensor position was perfect for me.

As with the S8, everyone is also complaining about the placement of the fingerprint sensor location, although I m now used to it with the help of a back cover with cut outs that separate the lens and the sensor! :)

At home I use the face recognition feature to unlock the phone and I must say it's just as quick if not quicker! :)

Bixby is not to bad and it's fun, you should try it! :D

Also try out the YouTube 4K HDR clips on your Note, you'll be amazed what the Oled screen can reproduced, really awesome....enjoy ;D

Bro dbchoong

Hows the batt life of Note 8, chin tok kong / tok kong /so so / jia lat / sibei jiat lat :)

Battery life seems good, but probably not great. Full charge unplug 7am. Now is about 33% left at 10pm.

The Battery status info indicates about 7hr remaining. Have been playing more (surfing, some Candy Crush-like games, camera) with the phone than normal days since it's new.

My screen is set as "Always On Display", so the clock, date, notifications are always shown even when not in use. I have GPS on, Bluetooth on connected my Android Wear smart watch, WiFi on, brightness auto.

So, overall - I would say around so-so and tok kong.. :)

How do you guys read email? The email app cannot add any email client and yahoo mail doesn't display properly in gmail app.

The default email app - I have no problems connecting POP3 to my company's email server. I saw the setup screen can support POP3, IMAP and Exchange Server. No idea about yahoo as I don't use that.

Sorry, don't get you there ???

I use the Gmail app for emails only. :)

I have yahoo, Gmail and AOL mail. System email app gave error when adding accounts. Gmail app can add Yahoo and AOL but sometimes display error.

I just tried with adding a friend's Yahoo email to the standard email on my Note 8. I entered a Yahoo email account and then click next, and it asked for the password. Then all working. Can retrieve emails, delete, can send.

okok my app outdated

Your account is currently not enabled to sign in from apps that do not meet modern security standards (ex. Older versions of mail and calendar apps such as Outlook). As a result, we prevented a sign in to your Yahoo account.

Date and Time: September 12, 2017 10:34:59 PM PDT Location: Singapore (IP Address: 138.75.184.158)

We strongly recommend that you switch to Yahoo's apps such as Yahoo Mail on desktop and mobile and remove your account from all other less secure apps.

If you still want to use an app that uses less secure sign in, go to https://login.yahoo.com/account/security#other-apps and turn on "Allow apps that use less secure sign in". This is not recommended and may leave your account more vulnerable to compromise. To learn more, please visit our help page: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN27791.html.

Nah iOS still way better. Simple things that I took for granted is a b**** to use in Android. MT4 needs to sign in to switch different account. Games need extra step. Wonder how you guys can stand the frustration of something so advanced yet so backward?  ;D

Nah, I don't play games so I can't comment! ;D. Accounts can be switched on Google so not a problem for me too!

The main reason I switch to the bright side is I can select the thousand of songs in my library as ring tones within seconds :). Try doing it in IOS..vomit blood!

Others may watch a lot of videos and choosing a phone with QHD Amoled makes sense!  Audiophiles wants to listen to hi-res files with good fidelity will obviously choose phones with built in DAC!  Artists will definitely need a stylus to draw once they chance on a good moment and the list goes on and on ;D

Android may not be as smooth as IOS but they provide plenty of choices for the masses at an affordable price hence enjoys 86% of the world's market share!

So everyone's mileage may vary, pick the phone that suits you and enjoy it! ;D

Trading account in Meta Trader 4 if you have 5 like me (no you can't do it in Google) then you will tear your hair like what I am doing now. Everything else needs a couple of steps more. I am surprised Android hasn't catch up after all these years. They should improve their coding rather then to implement fanciful features. If you can't watch catchup TV with toggle on Chromebook (flash and Shockwave error) you will wonder wah lau A 什麽时代 liao.  ;D
