Both work for me. Not working for me.. In Dropbox settings, did you set the permissions to public? Trying the link directly I get this: Quote Error (403) It seems you don't belong here! You should probably sign in. Check out our Help Center and forums for help, or head back to home. From that thing in bold, you probably restricted it (or use the wrong URL).
brumby Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Would you mind trying again? I think I've "shared" them but I'm not sure. Normally, I shun all types of "social networks" like the plague. Again, I ask which photo hosting site you use.

It's quite complicated to use that. Upload to flicker, go to photostream, select the photo I want, click on the "Share icon" (lower right), select BBCode, select the size I want, C&P the link, and modify it to only show the JPG (Include only the IMG tags). Do you see a picture above? Edited February 6, 2015 by myrantz
mickj1 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 myrantz your picture is fine. Brumby when I click on one of your photos the computer just shows one of those endless loops of it trying to load something. I am in a photographic group on Facebook, and post my pics there first and then just right click, copy image, and paste into SNA. There are other ways to do it, but that one works for me. Cheers mick
brumby Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Yep, I can see the pic fine, myrantz. I can't find anything in dropbox settings to set permissions to "public". Sigh. I'll figure something out. In the meantime, sorry about the stuff up. The pics were only test shots for the new lens anyway. Edited February 6, 2015 by brumby
brumby Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Test shots taken with the Nikkor 200mm F/4 AI manual focus lens I bought yesterday - http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/45277-camera-and-photo-chat/?p=1280878 First test shot I took. I missed focus on this one it was supposed to be on the little yellow/orange fruit. Lens wide open at F/4 Another shot taken at the home of the bloke I bought the lens from Some more test shots taken once I got the lens home Edited February 6, 2015 by brumby 4
Tweaky Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Yeah the flower picture is showing now. I bought exactly the same lens a few months back from a guy in Japan. Immaculate condition. I could easily live without auto focus, and much prefer using a lens aperture ring than a camera dial . I use it on a D800e, and use the Nikon DK-17 magnifying viewfinder eyepiece for my camera to aid in focusing, even though I have focus conformation available, which I keep forgetting I have LOL Worth getting a magnifying eyepiece for your camera if you use manual lenses a fair bit, you need to see which model fits your camera though. brumby Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Thanks, I'll upload the other shots to the same post. I can't seem to delete the original post so maybe a mod can do it for me?
mickj1 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Pic looks good Brumby - maybe just edit the other post down to nil. with a note to say "see below" Cheers mick 1

Yes, that's a good idea. If and when I decide to upgrade to full frame (present D7000 to D750), I'll definitely look into it. I have focus confirmation available on the D7000 but I must admit I wasn't using it on the very first shots. I just wanted to make sure that the lens would function on the camera and didn't have any scratches or dust or fungus and that the focus ring was good and the aperture worked with the camera. It passed on all counts. I'm looking forward to using this lens and am warming very quickly towards the idea of manual focus lenses. Very good picture quality on the cheap. Tweaky Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Here's the system chart for the D7000 http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/d7000/compatibility01.htm You want the DK-21M magnifying eyepiece. I found buying for the USA cheaper than here on items like this, even with postage. US $25 at B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=nikon+dk-21m&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ps Aus $90 here, see what I mean. http://www.camerahouse.com.au/products/General-Accessories/Nikon-DK-21M-Magnifying-Eyepiece.aspx 2
brumby Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Many thanks, Tweaky. Very happy to see that the same eyepiece fits on the D7000 AND the D750. No excuse not to buy one now.
mickj1 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Oh go on Brumby - give the butcher bird a feed!! cheers mick
brumby Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Why do you think he's perched on my deck railing, Mick?
Braddles 63 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 We had some good thunderstorms during the week. 19
betty boop Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 nice work...though am not sure I'd be game going out there pointing a metal camera up in the sky...for fear of attracting some electricity myself and getting a bit too close to the action !
Braddles 63 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 This was @ 10:30pm and it was just the last little storm cell coming down the coast so I was "Reasonably" safe. When it got too close I was out of there! 1

brumby Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Don't get lost. Better half in a cedar rainforest in BC (Canada) 2
Spearmint Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) Following a tip a storm cell was on its way toward Frankston last night, I headed down. Unfortunately it didn't eventuate Rain on its way, before it changed direction. Edited February 7, 2015 by Spearmint 6

Amazing photo's!! @@Braddles 63 How do you take photo's like this and get the timing perfect? A lightning bolt is only there for a fraction of a second ... how the hell can you react so quick to press the shutter (and allow for camera delay) to capure something that happens so quick? Or do you set the camera up to shoot continiously and hope to capture a bolt at the right time? Edited February 7, 2015 by Sierra
Braddles 63 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Hey Sierra These were taken at night time. Tripod and time exposure. Used f8 and 200iso. Had the lens ( canon 18-55 ) open anywhere from 10-30 seconds. Then it's just a little bit of luck. I've tried to take take continuous exposures when it was too light for time exposure and you are right....it's nearly impossible to get one. It ALWAYS flashes as soon as you stop.
brumby Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Another shot just taken with my "new" 200mm F/4 Nikkor AI lens - sharpening automatically added when the RAW file was converted to JPG by Irfan View PS: In regard to Braddles 63's fantastic lightning shots, here's a tutorial from Photography Life: https://photographylife.com/how-to-photograph-lightning 5
