I dont normally care too much about the wildlife around the house. We have koalas and possums just walking around doing whatever. Its just that this was the biggest beetle i ve ever seen. It was as big as my hand!

Its gone now, im sure some bird will have a hearty meal tonight

its definitely not a koala or a possum

it looks like an Orange Spotted Blackbeetle

The effect is supposed to be somewhat of an oil/pencil type finish. Read supposed, I'm not too good at this funky stuff :)

Thanks!

  The first thought to me was,"great oil painting" so I'd say you did all right.

Here's what I've been up to the last couple of days;

Red-browed finch

welcome swallows

Australian reed-warbler

Chestnut-breasted mannikin

It's always great to get up to SE Qld around Xmas. Now maybe I could get them sharper with a Nikkor lens...

Cheers and Happy Xmas

Reckon we could have an iphone pic thread, or is it too niche?

GREAT IDEA...lets call it...

What can be achieved without a camera...

My old Olympus E-500 has been giving me some issues recently so i thought it was time to replace it. I plumped for a micro 4/3rds from Olympus so with an adaptor i could use my decent 4/3rds lenses. I bought the entry level E-M10 as it has all the features i will need but has the picture quality of the upper models. The thing is tiny in comparison to the DSLR but it's made so it sits easy and firmly in the hand which is good. With my old 14-54mm lens on though it's rather front heavy which is unsurprising as the lens must weight 5 times what the camera does. I've only been using it this afternoon so will have to work my way through all the options to get the best out of it but so far i am really pleased.

A couple from not too long ago out in the garden just to try things out using the 14-54, 1:2.8-3.5
